Will Salt Lake City host the 2014 Winter Games? Almost certainly not. But could the Utah capital, logistically, host the 2014 Games?
The answers range from no doubt to no chance.
A grass-roots movement is afoot to boycott the Sochi Winter Olympics or move them to another city after Russian President Vladimir Putin in June signed a law banning "propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations" and giving the government seemingly broad powers to discriminate against gays.
Salt Lake City is on the short list of places that could conceivably host a modern-scale Winter Olympics on a moment's notice.....

I do believe I read something written by our very own MSM agreeing that the Muslim’s have the right to ban the reading of Bibles and public praying by our soldiers who are stationed there. Even though we have a volunteer military, the guys really don’t have a choice about being there.

Why would Utah WANT to hold the Winter Olympics? The Olympics always are a money pit for whoever hosts them — and the debts the locals incur live on long after the Olympics are over.

We’d have to make the snow and somehow keep it frozen but how about a snow boarding obstacle course down Congress Ave. in Austin dodging and jumping over weirdos. The luge would have lots of fans in Dallas. Being as it’s Texas and temps reached 110 this week, throw in some summer events such as swimming in Lake Travis that’s 1/3 full what with the drought. Weight lifting nekkid sunbathers out at Hippie Hollow although the cameras would have to severely edit that event. Or cycling along Highway 130 during rush hour with posted speeds at 85 mph. I’d love to see a Run for the Border triathelon event to clear out the illegals.

Is it even remotely possible that Putin actually WANTS the games pulled..and he’s purposely trying to create an incident. There’s been much coverage about a real lack of snow..and construction of the many venues is way behind schedule..he may want to avoid an unfavorable comparison to China..
