Obama, family going on eight-day Martha's Vineyard vacation

Cue up the indignant reactions: President Barack Obama and his family are about to go on an eight-day vacation on the Massachusetts island of Martha's Vineyard, an elite playground for the East Coast wealthy set.

Often the criticism of a president's vacation is partisan in nature, which is why White House spokesman Jay Carney dismissed a question about it when asked whether Obama's vacation was too extravagant.

"I would just check what they said six years ago," he said, referring to a period when a Republican president, George W. Bush, was in office.

Bush, who vacationed at his Texas ranch while in office, was not a fan of the Massachusetts island of the liberal affluent, saying it was out of step with everyday Americans.

"Most Americans don't sit in Martha's Vineyard, swilling white wine," he once said.

Massachusetts island of the liberal affluent, saying it was out of step with everyday Americans...

It may not be the most out of step w/ everyday Americans. The Hampton's is probably even more so.

Oh, by the way... Plugs is vacationing THIS week in the Hampton's.

My vacation this year was a long weekend at the in-laws cabin. One, it was free and about all I could afford. Two, it was about all the time I could take off. Now I'm off to work again. Gotta put in 10+, after all there are a couple of illegal alien families, starving artist types, and countless wellfare jackwagons counting on me to support them with "free" obamacare, food stamps, and obamaphones.

I hope he gets some bad fish and spends all 8 days puking his guts out. Who am I kidding, he doesn't have any guts, just look at his "foreign policy" - if you could call it that.

Don’t these MV trips always start the first day AFTER Ramadan?

Martha’s vineyard has become a haven and a vacation spot for reconstituted trailer trash.

The Obama’s are, like the Clintons, nothing but yokels who saw their only chance for riches was to flee to politics: the filthiest game there ever was.

The Rat media was really hard on Bush for spending time at his ranch.

Yet they don’t seem upset by King Barry and Michelle Antoinette’s many extravagant vacations.

Hypocrisy, it’s a liberal thing.

The presence of the royal family and its retinue must be disruptive for the residents of MV, most of whom are likely minions of the king.

True that on his "foreign policy".

And that bad fish would be karma.

There is no more over rated venue in the US than MV. I spent a week there once and made a couple of day trips. It’s just a small New England town with a crappy beach. A hundred locations in Rhode Island, New Jersey, Maine and Massachusetts are vastly nicer and much easier to get to. MV sucks.

He’s only going to Martha’s Vineyard as a show of solidarity with the grape pickers.

"The Rat media was really hard on Bush for spending time at his ranch."

They were especially upset to be spending time in Crawford, Texas where it gets hot, very hot in the summer and the only nightspots are the spots where you are at night - no frills. They did not enjoy covering Bush clearing shrub and Cyprus trees to improve his ranch.

The press always want a real cushy place to vacation along with presidents - places like Martha's Vineyard.

Covering Bush's vacations in Crawford, Texas, which was really a working vacation, because he did presidential work along with his ranch work did not fit their bill. They want to "report" from the Hampton's and Martha's Vineyard.

Yeah, and the lucky ones get to ride with the king in his royal coach (AF-1), and they will do and say whatever they have to in order to achieve that goal.
