A safety net for business-starters? Yes. It's called Communism.

Funny that this should come from Salon (isn't their stock value in the pennies range?) that gets an annual bailout from a liberal benefactor?

Its time to teach the takers
What will happen if the Makers all sit at home do nothing like the Dems want their voters to do? They would have to take notice. This is a seed of hope.

Sadly, this article is on the mark. My local business publication comes every week chock-full of interviews with supposed “entrepreneurs” and CEO’s whining that the government is not doing enough to subsidize them and/or provide a safety net.

Capitalism has been supplanted by Crony Capitalism at this point. If we do manage to gain power, Job #1 will be dealing with the immediate economic depression caused when we turn off the spending spigot and the Crony Capitalist Economy proceeds to collapse.

This article makes me think back on a television show I watched a while ago where they were interviewing millionaires and billionaires. The thing that struck me is that each of them claimed to have made millions and then lost everything at least once, some multiple times. Yet they were currently wealthy. I think this “safety net” mentality removes that moxy and drive that those people demonstrated by picking themselves up after they fell.
