$200 in La Jolla will probably get you a couple of tofuburgers with or without sprouts and some Starbucks coffee (soy milk optional).

Obama Administration Already Tossed the Food Stamp Work Requirement

The Obama Administration sure is getting defensive about its recent action to waive all work requirements in the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) cash welfare program. But this isn’t the first time or the first program in which Obama Administration policy has undermined work requirements.
The welfare reform of 1996 requires that after three months on food stamps, recipients be engaged in some kind of work activity for at least 20 hours a week. Tucked away in the mammoth 2009 so-called “stimulus” spending bill was the suspension of this requirement for able-bodied adults with no children. The suspension expired on September 30, 2010. His next two budgets then requested that the suspension be extended each year. However, he did not wait for Congress to act on these requests; instead his Department of Agriculture issued waivers to 44 states and the District of Columbia freeing them from implementing the food stamp work requirement.

Sorry, but no one in SoCal is ‘living it up’ on $200 a month. No one.

Everyone, please calm down about this situation! You are missing the whole context to this story. Mitt Romney has a home in La Jolla. This man’s entitlements are completely justifiable. /Sarcasm off

No surprise, I see people all the time buying junk food, Perrier water, crab legs, big steaks etc. pay for the food with EBT and then pay cash for booze and cigarettes.

How the heck does he get that? I have paid my taxes since age 16. I am unemployed (not by choice), no safety-net benefits, and I eat a 17 cent pack of noodles a day. I am two decades too young for Social Security and too old (also not being bilingual anymore, “not a native Spanish speaker and “unqualified” (due to raising my own kids, married for more than two decades but now divorced and all my volunteering during that time accounts for Nothing, along with my degrees). I thought that the safety nets we pay taxes for were just that, for Citizens in need for a small amount of time. If I crossed over the border or were a “gay” refugee, the Politicians would open the wallets of the taxpayers.

Wow...I guess I am behind the times.

I had no idea John Roberts had moved to FOX.

Can't believe he's reporting on stuff like this now. Good for him.

La Jolla has cheap eating places also, for instance Jack in the Box, McDonalds, Subway.

What p*sses me off is watching someone pay for her groceries with a bridge card (food stamps), then and get into a brand new Ford Focus and drive away.

Why not?

We paid the family of the Boston bombers over $150,000 in various entitlements and social services.

I was in a Kroger this afternoon and the person in front of me in line read a text message that they had just received to the friend that was accompanying them. Aloud, they stated that: “Kimmie has $260 in food stamps she wants $130 for, you want ‘em?”. To which the other person replied in the affirmative. I was so pissed that I couldn’t see straight, exacerbated by the fact that these maggots purchased the entire basket of junk foods on ....... another EBT card.

I saw this on Bret Baier's "Special Report" show on Friday (best news show on TV).

Absolutely stunning. I was fuming after that piece!

I'd like to know how La Jolla Jason affords that brand-new shiny black truck he drives, if he doesn't have a job. Are the taxpayers funding that too??
