Obama: ‘I don’t think Mr. Snowden was a patriot’
The Washington Examiner ^ | August 9, 2013 | Ashe Schow

President Obama said Friday that he believes Edward Snowden – the whistleblower who revealed that the National Security Agency was collecting metadata and phone records of every American – was not a patriot for his leaking of classified documents.

Obama, speaking at his first news conference since April, was responding to a question from NBC’s Chuck Todd about Snowden. “No, I don’t think Mr. Snowden was a patriot,” Obama said before reiterating that as a senator he called for a review of the Patriot Act.

“If in fact he believes that what he did was right, then, like every American citizen, he can come here, appear before the court with a lawyer and make his case,” Obama said. “If the concern was that this was the only way to get this information out to the public, I signed an executive order – well before Mr. Snowden leaked this information – that provided whistleblower protection to the intelligence community for the first time.” Obama did not mention that his administration has prosecuted more whistleblowers than any other administration in history.

You ought to have a beer summit with him, you Marxist maggot, one traitor to another. You could compare notes on how to undermine the security AND Freedom of United States citizens!

Note that I don't accept that false choice between Security and Freedom. That's nothing more than a classic red herring.

In my early years, back in the Dark Ages, i.e. the Eisenhower Administration, we still had some basic Freedoms. In my opinion, we did not then have Security - we had numerous Soviet ICBM's pointed at us and our National prestige was heading downward rapidly.

Now we have less security than ever - look at the Boston Marathon - and a damn sight less Freedom.

I shudder to think what will be left for my children.

“If in fact he believes that what he did was right, then, like every American citizen, he can come here, appear before the court with a lawyer and make his case,”

What an unmentionably cynical bastard Obama is.

If Snowden walked in the door, he would be instantly arrested and vanished into the Marine brig at Quantico. He would be held incommunicado in conditions bordering on torture (solitary for years + “suicide watch” conditions) for a few years until his trial in a secret court.

His attorney would be denied the ability to use what Snowden found in the files because it is secret. This makes it impossible to explain why he took what he did.

There would be no trial as to whether or not Snowden exposed illegal activity. It would be an A+B=C prosecution. Was the material classified + did he take it = Guilty.

There would be absolutely no chance of his prevailing in court and everyone knows it.

Shame on our revolutionary socialist pResident.

“Why’s Barry referring to Snowden in the past tense? He’s still alive, isn’t he?”

Barry better be very careful in his comments on Snowden. Putin has already jabbed a finger in his eye and shown him to be a pussy. Anything he says now will blow up in his face and prove Putin right. This country needs a man in charge

The President has done a lot more damage to this country than Snowden ever will.

Using Obama’s 2008 campaign rhetoric, Obama is unpatriotic.
And according to the Constitution Obama committed treason by violating the 4th Amendmentment and the Patriot act.

Does a patriot put his hands on his privates when the National Anthem is playing?

Well, I guess Snowden and Obama have something in common then...

Compared to Obama, Aldrich Ames was a patriot.

""Snowden is a lawbreaker if you wish, but I won’t call him a traitor.

I agree. He broke the law and should go to jail for a week or two.

Is Obama more of a patriot than Snowden?

That’s a rhetorical question.

Is Obama more of a traitor than Benedict Arnold?

I’m leaning towards a yes.
