Mark Russell, whose nearly three years as editor of the Orlando Sentinel were marked by coverage of the Trayvon Martin case and the hazing death of a marching band member at Florida A&M University, was ousted Wednesday in a reorganization that eliminated his job.
Russell was replaced by Avido Khahaifa [pdf], a corporate manager who is also African American and for whom the editor's job will be an additional role.
Both men were at the National Association of Black Journalists convention last week in nearby Kissimmee, Fla...........

The Orlando Sentinel led the charge for the indictment and conviction of George Zimmerman with one-sided racially biased reporting that served ultimately to poison the jury pool in Seminole County.
Negative information about Zimmerman were dug up and amplified and always found a place in the paper, while anything negative about Trayvon Martin was screened and censored -- and still is to this day.
For over a year readers blamed the bias on the reporters, but now we see the reason for that racial animus in black and white and color.
Purges of Stalinist stooges are never pretty.

Trayvon Martin Media Forum
Trayvon Martin Media Forum (L/R- Francis Oliver, Susan Vernon-Devlin, Jennifer Bisram, and Mark Russell)
Hear a panel of CThe forum is conceived and hosted by the Central Florida Association of Black Journalists and held Saturday, August 11, 2012 in the sanctuary of Sanfords New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. It is moderated by association president, Daralene Jones, a reporter for WFTV/Channel 9.
(Note: Francis Oliver is Natalie Jackson’s mother)
News outlets from around the world covered marches and rallies in Sanford sparked by Trayvons death, but Russell said a diverse team of Sentinel staffers was asked to take a deeper look at how Central Florida is affected by race.
Russell said a goal of the series was to prompt conversations about race, stereotypes and the states stand your ground law.
In addition to the series, the Sentinel hosted a forum on race relations at the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Sanford. More than 200 people attended.
Not only was the Trayvon Martin bias projected, hyped and overblown, Obama scandals, if reported at all, were relegated to inside pages with minimal coverage.
The black racists are far more powerful in their community than the KKK/Democrats ever were and operate right out in the open with government support.
If that's true then he must have a dark side.
