No objection at all. My point is that these religious organizations should be engaging in these charitable efforts without getting into bed with the government to get paid for them.

If you do some research on Catholic Charities, for example, you'll likely get a sense that it's really just an enormous business, not a charity.

It does make me wonder if there will be a real election in 2016.

Hey Bambi, didn’t the Catholic vote put you in the White Hut twice in the last 6 years? Don’t bite the hand that feeds you.

Obama's the President of black Americans and white liberal elites. That's it. No others...

Christians need to wake up to the fact that the political left is out to ELIMINATE Christianity.

Thank you for that clarification.

In every state, adoption agencies need to be licensed even if they are totally, 100% private with no govt. money at all. In an increasing number of states, all adoption agencies, even private and church-related, are required to make adoptive children available to homosexuals.

That is why Catholic adoption agencies have been shut down by law in Illinois, Massachusetts, California and elsewhere. Soon, I fear, coast-to-coast.

Conscience rights for Catholic hospitals? They don't have them now. That's what that whole HHS kerfluffle was all about.

OK. As of now, nobody can be forced to actually perform an abortion. But that's it. Catholic hospitals are now, right NOW being told they can't deny admitting privileges to abortionists. Plus Catholic hospitals, as employers, must offer the same contraceptive, sterilization, morning-after-pill coverage to every employee as part of their HHS-mandated insurance benefit.

If I thought the bishops, the hospitals themselves, the nuns' religious orders which still influence or control the boards of directors and trustees, the Catholic Health Association and so forth, were going to gird up their loins and sound forth the trumpet on this one, I would grab my torch and pitchfork and run to the roar --- so would hundreds of thousands of other Catholics.

But I hear

: : : crickets : : :

And I see no strategy being put forth to fight this thing.

That's what blows my mind: the institutions which were supposed to FIGHT Obamacare, the only ones who can --- the Catholic healthcare systems, the other health nonprofits, the Republican party for Godsake --- are silent. Divided within themselves. Or running up the white flag and handing Obama the keys to the city.

Where is moral courage, Mrs?? Where are the courageous people standing up for God, for morality, for our rights and freedoms guaranteed under the Constitution? And we as individuals can really do nothing. We live under (supposedly) a representative Republic, not a pure democracy.

Where is the opposition to this tyranny?

There wasn’t one in 2012. Why would there be one in 2016?

The state or State should not be involved in adoptions, ever ever ever.

Please do not confuse wealth with money. The Church and its associated institutions own a lot of valuable property. But that is not money. They do not take loans on the property and I doubt is banks would give loans. I own a home worth a lot of money, but Stop and Shop is not going to take a promissory note on my home for payment. Church institutions have sold off properties. Recently the Jesuits sold a magnificent Long Island mansion for some millions of dollars. That cash will go to maintaining the order’s works, its school and colleges and missionary work. But to think the Church has the liquid assets of Mike Blomberg is wrong.

A great many of the “Catholic” voters would have no issue with this.

“Catholic” doesn’t mean the same as “Practicing Catholic”.

“The amount of money and resources of the Catholic Church rivals a developed country.”

Why on earth would that make a difference? I am aware of very close relative who has been hospitalized in a local Catholic Hospital twice in the past year. The first time saved her life. I will tell you the place was loaded with patients will all kind of ailments in need. Obamacare is a nightmare.

So, is this just so they can collect taxes from the hospitals if they make them “for profit”?
