North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory (R) on Monday signed into law one of the nations most wide-ranging Voter ID laws.
The move is likely to touch off a major court battle over voting rights, and the Justice Department is weighing a challenge to the new law.
The measure requires voters to present government-issued photo identification at the polls and shortens the early voting period from 17 to 10 days. It will also end pre-registration for 16- and 17-year-old voters who will be 18 on Election Day and eliminates same-day voter registration.
Democrats and minority groups have been fighting against the changes, arguing that they represent an effort to suppress the minority vote and the youth vote, along with reducing Democrats advantage in early voting.

Good for North Carolina....
Come on NORTH CAROLINA. Prove to us you’re not like Asheville and Chapel Hill all over the beautiful State of my birth!
I had to show an ID today to get bloodwork done. There was a 90 year old lady there as well; she showed her ID.
Wonder when Eric Holder is going to attack this Law.
Holder is always johnny-on-the-spot to preserve, protect and defend Democrat voter fraud.
What???? Just because you can’t buy nail polish remover without ID shouldn’t mean you need ID to vote!
i bet those people arguing that govt. provided healthcare was a right, never objected to showing ID to receive the benefit of that “right”
When did early voting become a "right"?!? I don't even remember it existing before the early 1990's. You could vote absentee, but you had to make a trip to the courthouse and provide a valid excuse. None of this opening polling booths and allowing votes three weeks before the election crap existed...
Excellant, same day registration and voting, early voting and absentee voting are all sources of election and voter fraud. I do believe 17 yos should be able to register if they are to turn 18 prior to the next scheduled elevtion.
Now where is the Bill to Allow Fracking in NC to reverse their blunder from a couple of years ago, and when will the Gov sign that?
Excellent! Crush the democrats and their election fraud.
Ignore it.
And point to Shelby County, Alabama v. Eric Holder (Loser)
The same law/ID you need to vote should be the same law you need to buy a gun.
What they’re really upset about?? Goodbye Senator Hagan!
I would agree except on one point, military service, that’s lots of skin in my book.
Great news from/for the state of North Carolina.Rat bastards days are numbered.
That’s ridiculous.
Have you spoken with a representative sample of men today? Not just the younger ones, but the guys in their 50s, 60s and 70s are just as bad. Loads of liberals wanting the government to support them or their kids or their drug of choice.
There is no quick fix and there may not even be _a_ fix. Things have just deteriorated past the *fix it* stage.
I’m not sure how serious Coulter is about her claim, but voter demographics from the 2012 election clearly show that if only men had voted, Romney would have won.

Here’s some more demographics that show if only women had been allowed to vote, both Gore and Kerry would have won. They also show that there have been exceptions. For example, if only women had been allowed to vote in 1960, Nixon would have won, Kennedy would have lost.

Every woman I know voted for Romney and that includes a couple who finally admitted they had voted for zer0 the 1st time.
Even some men I know who are business owners and should have voted GOP hang on to their “cool” image (in their own minds)and defend their worst enemy. They are a minority, I admit. But I hear way more whining about *fairness*, especially as regards income (!) from men, than from women.
Anecdote, not data.
THIS!
Yeah Yoe! Get the youts out of it NOW!
Curious how widespread voter fraud became apparent shortly after that. Hmm... do you think there is connection....? /s
I’m from NC also and a lot of my Facebook acquaintances are still there, and a lot of them are libs. They are literally cr*pping themselves over this. Hee hee.
