Camden County voting records show Faustino Fernandez-Vina, who today was nominated to the state Supreme Court by Gov. Chris Christie, a Republican, has been a registered Democrat since 1972.
But if you ask Phyllis Pearl, the countys superintendent of elections, she tells a different story.
Hes a Republican, Pearl said in a brief telephone interview. Weve had some data corrupted and peoples party affiliations have been changed, and I think thats the case here.
When asked how she, a Democrat, knew Fernandez-Vinas party affiliation, Pearl responded, I just do.
She said the discrepancy was never caught because Fernandez-Vina has only voted in general elections, not primaries.
Fernandez-Vinas political party is a crucial biographical detail in the feud between Senate Democrats and Christie over his nominations to the Supreme Court. Christie has said he wants to remake the court, and Democrats fear that means stacking the deck with Republicans.

Is that like Christie being a “Republican”, too?
He’s at least as Republican as Christie?
“Weve had some data corrupted and peoples party affiliations have been changed, and I think thats the case here.
Like Christie’s?
“A registered Democrat, Christie’s top court nominee says he’s really a Republican”
AND in other news:
“Chris Christie, a registered Republican, is really a Democrat!”
LOL!
I was going to post the same thing as everyone else, but it’s not clever to be #6 with the same idea.
Of all of Mitt Romney’s judge appointments, only 25% were republicans, and look at how conservative he is, LOL.
Democrats, running away from the label, like scurrying cockroaches.
It is not a good time to be bearing the designation. Of course, in New Jersey, the Democrats still have an overwhelming grip on all the levers of power, including the rather enfeebled Republican faction.
Who knew a third rail would suddenly come live?
"I work for the government, I can tell you who had a cold last week, who bought a gun in Montana last month, or how many times you've phoned England."
I pulled a muscle laughing!
When you apply for a job as an ObamaCare Navigator, I bet they check your party affiliation first thing. Only Democrats will get those jobs.
I don’t know. Christie claims to be a Republican as well
Actually years ago when I lived in Camden county I registered Democrat even though I never voted that way except in one primary, when I wanted to see Florio nominated for governor because I figured he’d be the easiest for the ‘pubs to beat - he did get beaten, but only after he had managed to serve one term - fortunes of war.....
