Work to refinish part of the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial where a disputed inscription was recently removed may not be done until after the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington. A disagreement arose over the past 10 days over how to sandblast and refinish the stone where an inscription was recently chiseled away.

Thank you very much!!
"It looks unfinished," Jackson said. "The artist is furious about leaving his work unfinished."
Ugliest memorial ever. Even before they tried to fix it.
“using walnut shells to blast the stone.”
That sounds borderline racist to me! ;)
And I’m guessing even MLK would be scratching his head at what we have become.
Permits and insurance to use steel shot.
A Chinese guy doing the sculpture.
Bungling of wording “carved in stone”
And an idiot news writer so one STILL doesn’t really know what the hell is going on.
and it doesn’t belong there....it belongs in Alabama
Is that the sculpture today? Looks like they have a LOT of work left to finish it what with the rock at his feet and back still need to be carved away.
(No - I get it. MLK’s statue, just like the fight against racism, oppression and the evil white guy is never done.... Hmmm. I wonder what percentage of the funds (taxes) that paid for this memorial are from “evil” white guys?)
The now-removed inscription was a paraphrase from King’s “Drum Major” speech. It read, “I was a drum major for justice, peace and righteousness.”
Critics, including the poet Maya Angelou, argued the quotation was taken out of context when it was paraphrased and shortened. Angelou said it made King sound arrogant.
??? I don’t get it

I had to rummage around a little; here is the original quote:
The full quotation was taken from a 1968 sermon about two months before King was assassinated. It reads: “Yes, if you want to say that I was a drum major, say that I was a drum major for justice. Say that I was a drum major for peace. I was a drum major for righteousness. And all of the other shallow things will not matter.”
Or would that further anger the "artist"?
wouldn’t it be better if a pastor were known for being a drum major for Christ?
or all of us for that matter.
They have to write on the bottom of the statue:
“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character, but sadly that day will probably never happen so long as the slave party aka the democrat party continues to exist, a party that I Martin Luther King jr. refused to belong to.”

To be assassination and time do great things for a person’s memory
They don’t like it that King was a Republican so naturally everything he said goes right over their head and they replace it with their own delusional quotes and meanings.

they had BEST get it DONE on TIME
Obama is going to go POSTAL if he cant sell his Let Freedom RIngs on Ebay
lulz
The memorial is out of place and looks like it belongs in communist USSR or Red China. Shouldn’t there be some mention of his plagarizing and womanizing on it?
