400 US surface-to-air missiles were 'STOLEN' from Libya during the Benghazi
Daily Mail ^

Posted on 08/13/2013 5:33:26 AM PDT by bryan999

Four hundred American surface-to-air missiles were 'taken from Libya' during the terror attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, a former U.S. Attorney who represents whistleblowers claimed on Monday.

He added that the U.S. intelligence community is terrified they might be used to shoot down airliners.

Joe diGenova, whose wife Victoria Toensing – a former deputy assistant attorney general – also represents Benghazi witnesses and others with knowledge of the terror attack, told WMAL radio that the loss of those missiles is also one the reason the U.S. State Department shut down 19 embassies across the Middle East last week.

'A lot of people have come forward to share information with us,' he said during the radio station's 'Mornings On The Mall' program Monday morning.

'We have learned that one of the reasons the administration is so deeply concerned' is that 'there were 400 surface-to-air missiles stolen, and that they are ... in the hands of many people, and that the biggest fear in the U.S. intelligence community is that one of these missiles will be used to shoot down an airliner. 400 missiles, surface-to-air missiles, taken from Libya.'

Asked if the missiles are now 'in the hands of al-Qaeda operatives,' DiGenova replied, 'That is what these people are telling us.'

Which begs the question, what were 400 missiles doing at the consulate in the first place?

And perhaps come correctly surmise that these types of missiles can easily be transported here...where they will make takeoffs and landings at your local airport “very interesting”.

However, the Hillabeast would say, “What difference does it make?”

That’s enough missiles to shoot down two presidencies. Just what I predicted when it happened and was rumored there was a buyback of weapons from the Brohood.

Pray for America to Wake Up

Without McCain and Graham leading the charge for intervention, would we have gone in? With Republicans like these, who needs Democrats?

Nothing to see here, someone erroneously sent surface to air missiles instead of the 400 roman candles that were ordered for the ambassador’s birthday celebration.

Who says they have to be used as surface to air missiles.

I am sure they could be fired at any target a terrorist would like.

Al-Qaeda’s how-to guide for using surface-to-air missiles found in Mali
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/al-qaeda/10115887/Al-Qaedas-how-to-guide-for-using-surface-to-air-missiles-found-in-Mali.html

The 26-page document in Arabic, recovered by The Associated Press in a building that had been occupied by al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb in Timbuktu, strongly suggests the group now possesses the SA-7 surface-to-air missile, known to the Pentagon as the Grail, according to terrorism specialists.

It confirms that the al-Qaeda cell is actively training its fighters to use these weapons, also called man-portable air-defense systems, or MANPADS, which likely came from the arms depots of late Libya dictator Muammar Gaddafi.

If STOLEN means seized by CIA and transferred surreptitiously to Syrian Muslim Brotherhood rebels, then I’d go a long with that.

Who says they have to be used as surface to air missiles. Because the tactical value of them is much much higher than say, an RPG. A MANPAD SAM is likely to have a seeker/tracker, probably IR that will target a heat signature (i.e., an aircraft or helicopter). You can hit a tank on the ground with an RPG, you really wouldn't want to waste a same on it.

It’s just a simple mixup. The “embassy” ordered 400 iPads and they were sent 400 MANPADS by mistake, so they thought they would give them away to the needy muzzlems.

So these 400 MANPADS would be in addition to the Hellfires in use by the Jihadis in Egypt, no?

Countless MANPADS have been smuggled in to the US across the southern border and have been stashed around the country. I can only presume this because a year or so AFTER the 9/11/twin towers attack Homeland Security was going to police related conventions in Texas and they were instructing the police how to identify the various parts of MANPADS. The group doing the instruction was mostly military types who were traveling around the country attending similar law enforcement shows. I saw the presentation they made in Texas by accident personally.

So, this is not a new issue. But is was and is a reason to shut down the borders. Using the National Guard if necessary. It may be too late but these new MANPADS which are likely the most modern change the game if they enter the US.

These types of surface to air missiles have a kill zone of 20-40 miles around any airport. According to Homeland Security it takes very little training to use one. They can be pulled out of a car or truck, pointed at the commercial jets heat signature, the device emits a tone and the trigger is pulled. By the time the airliner is hit the shooter is long gone without a trace.

Because of what I heard years ago for a long time I have expected to wake up one morning and see dozens of airliners being shot out of the sky. If that happens the American economy will tank.

The moslems are a very patient group. While it may seem that we have been able to stop terrorist acts with the stupidity of checking little old ladies and babies in airports or the NSA monitoring a bunch of phone calls we have neglected the real threat. Men on the ground with MANPADS.

The only way to stop the use of this kind of stuff is let the bad guys know that if something like this happens Mecca and Medina are no more.

Chris Stephens and the rest of the Americans were buying MANPADS and trying to get them out of the country. The bad guys simply let them purchase them and once they had a stockpile they raided the complex and took the MANPADS. They were very valuable and that is why they killed Stephens and others. One, they get the MANPADS and two they stop Stephens and Co. from buying up more. Hillary Clinton and Obama are up to their eyeballs in this deal just like they were in Fast and Furious.

I have not flown commercial in years and won’t fly commercial. I believe that hell will rain down on us one morning.

“Which begs the question, what were 400 missiles doing at the consulate in the first place?”

It was not a consulate and the missiles were not there. The missiles were in the “warehouse” at the “annex” (which was not annexed to anything).

Gee, looking around the news yesterday I would have thought this would be a lead story. Guess my timing was wrong.

Then checked if it were a follow up story to Benghazi. No not there either.

Human interest? NO.

Weather: No.

Sports: No.

Something must be wrong with my reception.
