The meaning of “natural born citizen” is very simple to understand and is not at all debatable. You know a child is natural born citizen by the inherent Nature of a child being born in the same jurisdiction and sovereignty of the state in which the parents are citizen members of that society, and the child therefore has no other sovereign state which can claim the child’s loyalty or allegiancem and the child cannot claim citizenship from the foreign state. An example is a child whose parents are citizens of the nation in which the child is born upon its sovereign jurisdiction. Such a citizenship is said to be “natural born citizenship” because no act of man is required to make the child of citizen as a result of naturaloly inheriting inheriting no other citizenship but the one in which the child is born with both parents having no foreign citizenship.

Conversely, you can always know a citizenship is not a “natural born citizenship” by virtue of the fact an act of man in the form of a law is required to determine which of more than one citizenship the child will adopt and/or which of the sovereigns can lawfully claim the loyalty and allegiance of the child at birth due to the child’s place of birth and/or citizenship of the parents.

Senator Ted Cruz cannot be a natural born citizen, because his citizenship was determined by a statutory law and his selection and rejection of competing claims upon his loyalty and allegiance at birth by more than one sovereign. Ted Cruz adopted the citizenship of his mother, and he rejected the citizenship of his place of birth and the citizenship of his father. His citizenship was setermined by “datus” and not by the “natus” of a “natural born citizenship”.
