A convicted sex offender shot multiple times on Monday succumbed to his injuries early Tuesday morning, according to the Monterey County Sheriffs Office.
Donald Wayne Crisp, 58, died at a San Jose hospital at 2 a.m., less than 24 hours after he was flown from Natividad Medical Center where he was first transported from the Higuera Lane shooting scene

If I’m the police chief, I assign this case to my laziest detective and ask him to work on other stuff. Then accidentally lose the file. That’s what I would do...justice was served.
Yeah the guy was a real asset to the community
Crisp unsuccessfully sued Monterey County officials in 2009, claiming the county denied him mental health services and suggesting it was because he was a sex offender.
He said he was never diagnosed as a pedophiliac or sexual deviant, conditions that are listed in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
The complaint said he suffered from severe personality disorder, anxiety-related disorder and paranoia.
In the federal civil rights suit, Crisp claimed he was discriminated against under the Americans With Disabilities Act because in addition to his mental health problems, he was diabetic, had a steel plate in his right ankle, and had bone spurs and chronic low back pain.
He said he was diagnosed with cancer on April 18, 2009, that a doctor called it “potentially life threatening” and said “don’t delay treatment.”
Attorneys for the county said Crisp did not qualify as disabled under the ADA, and the county’s Behavioral Health Department replied Crisp was denied services because he was on Medicare and “Monterey County was not able to bill Medicare at that time.”

In Salinas / Seaside / Watsonville, it’s an almost certain bet that shooters and “victims” are in Mexican gangs. This one is an eye-opening exception.
Same ridiculous projection of blame that Filthy Filner used.
5000$ ??? my lifeflight cost almost 17000$ my flight was longer but
A sex offender vigilante was almost certain to happen with the publication of their identities. Though many of them break the law by moving without leaving a forwarding address, few are prosecuted for it.
But this guy went out of his way to become known. A high risk endeavor when a casual poll of the public would indicate that if he was on fire, they would cross the street to extinguish it with a double headed axe.
One down....
Keep rackin’ up those numbers!
There are at least two more dead who have ‘police histories’ completely unrelated to the gang shootings or drivebys with no suspect whatsoever. Just bang, all gone.
Gonna be watching this.
When a single banger is airlifted from Seaside to San Jose it costs Monterey $31,000. That’s just for the flight. My CHOMP EMT buddy told me that a month ago.
Here’s a pretty good timeline, are they on here?

These two:
July 28- Crews Responding to Salinas Motel Explosion Find Homicide Victim: A woman’s body was found inside of a motel in Salinas on Sunday morning. Police said the woman appeared to have been shot at the Willow Lodge on 719 South Main St. Her body was discovered at 7:55 a.m. as officers were responding to reports of an explosion in one of the rooms. http://www.kionrightnow.com/Global/story.asp?S=22952625
July 29 - Co-Workers Of Carpenter Killed In Salinas Say He Was Trying To Make A Living: Those who knew the latest victim from Monday said the 60-year-old carpenter didn’t have any known ties with gangs. The shooting happened on the 200 block of Osage Drive. The carpenter working on a home remodel when he was shot to death. http://www.kionrightnow.com/story/22972660/friends-of-salinas-bizarre
The one about the carpenter is especially disturbing. The part about how the shooter told the girlfriend to get on the floor, and then didn’t shoot her, puts it out of the class of the usual robbery or random hate (whitey!) killing.
Damn! I’m not stopping for gas/food in Salinas anymore.
