The senator steals a march on potential 2016 rivals.
By Robert Costa
The early dynamics of the 2016 Republican presidential-primary contest were jolted on the morning of Friday, July 19, in a ballroom on the third floor of the Marriott hotel in downtown Des Moines. It was there, in front of coffee-sipping pastors, that Senator Ted Cruz of Texas wowed the kingmakers of the Iowa caucuses for the first time. Without notes and ignoring the podium, he roamed the carpeted dais for nearly an hour, quoting Scripture and musing about the Democrats and their occasional affinity for Satan. The reception was rapturous. Many ministers eagerly asked Cruzs advisers where they could sign up for a campaign that doesnt exist, while others encircled Cruz and laid their hands on him to pray.

The senator steals a march on potential 2016 rivals.
The National Review appears leary of Cruz.
Given the six tiresome years of boot-licking you did for Romney who was barely a Republican, let alone a conservative, such leariness almost seems an endorsement.
Veteran operative Chuck Laudner, who managed former Pennsylvania senator Rick Santorums victorious Iowa campaign last year, was in the room and remembers the scene vividly and he knew immediately that all the post-2012 conventional wisdom about the 2016 field was, with one speech, obsolete. To him and others who make their living as consultants within the Republican universe, the visceral response by Iowa preachers confirmed Cruzs ascent as a new, potentially disruptive force in the GOPs presidential-primary calculus. Instead of the looming battle for tea-party support in Iowa and South Carolina featuring a group of middleweight contenders vanilla governors, House members, and little-known senators it appeared that a Cruz phenomenon could overwhelm them all.
I like Ted Cruz. My favorite Ted Cruz moment was when he verbally cuffed Feinstein around at a hearing on gun control. Poor old Di Fi was clearly flustered. It was a marvelous thing to watch!
I’m so proud and thankful to have Mr. Cruz for my TX senator. I’m convinced that he’s the real deal.
Ted Cruz rocks!!! Finally, a Republican with a backbone!!! Got some good ones now.....Cruz, Lee, Rubio, Paul, etc. Dump the RINO Obama butt kissers, McConnell, Boehner, McCain, Graham, etc.!!!
And....defeat/defund Obamacare!!! Cruz/Lee Petition!!! Sign, right now....Today!!!

Could Cruz be the guy..... could a Latino be the answer to the coming “woman” vote Hillary will pull by default as did Obama with Blacks.?
Cruz has the conservative credentials. Still, can the Republicans fight a fair war in the social media era...? I wonder about this reality...
Im convinced that hes the real deal.

He seems to be genuine. Thanks to Texas for putting him in a position where he has a chance to do some good things for the country.
I hope he stays well clear of the RINOs and GOP-e who are nothing but a bunch of unprincipled appeasers and losers.

It is often said that you have to pick your battles. The problem with Republicans is that they NEVER pick a battle. They don’t know how to fight because they don’t really hold any convictions or principles.
Another old saying is that “you have to stand for something or you’ll fall for everything.” Defines Republicans to a tee.
I’m sure that he thinks the same way we do. I’ve met him, and I’ve heard him speak, and as far as I can tell he says what he means and means what he says.
Hillary’s got a cult coming, but Cruz is a threat?
