Russia, China block Security Council debate on Egypt (the world is upside down now!)

The UN Security Council Thursday night urged all parties in Egypt to end violence and exercise maximum restraint as the death toll from clashes between security forces and pro-Morsi protesters rose to 638. The statement was issued after UN Dep. Secretary General briefed members behind closed doors. The meeting, requested jointly by France, Britain and Austria, was prevented by Russia and China from holding a debate. They maintained that interference in any country’s internal affairs was unacceptable.

France and Britain have too large an Arabic population to publicly support the Egyptian military. I don’t know about Austria. Russia nad China probably want to sell military supplies to the junta.

European nations are taking the Obama position and defending the terrorists. Russia and China are defending the military.

Yes, there’s a War on Women, but the front lines aren’t in America, but in places like Egypt where the barbarians who are being killed in the streets by the army and police are fighting for the right to beat women and have sex with their wives after they’re dead.

The army is the only possible source for stability in Egypt. Like most of that region they need a strong man to run the show. Otherwise the islamist filth rises and unleashes medieval horror on the rest of society. Therefore in my mind Army = ‘good’, muslim brotherhood and their supporters = evil.

Usually, Debka must be carefully vetted for accuracy over rumor.

However,...The meeting, requested jointly by France, Britain and Austria, was prevented by Russia and China from holding a debate. They maintained that interference in any country’s internal affairs was unacceptable.

This is codified in International Law and UN Policy, so the Russian/Chinese action is legal, logical, and required by those complying with the Law, and probably occurred as described.

It is an international crime and a war crime to aid rebels in a foreign nation's internal civil war or uprising.

The US, NATO and Western Europe are currently International War Criminals.

Agree or not, if this is their position then why have a "United Nations"? Other than to grab money from First World countries that is.

After the Reichstag fire, the German army sat on its hands and enabled the Nazis’ seizure of all power with horrific consequences for the whole world. Faced with a similar situation, the Egyptian army acted with real courage and foresight and did the opposite of what the German army did. It looks like the Russians and Chinese, with their horrific experiences at the hands of the Nazis and Imperial Japanese, have a much better sense of tragic history than the Regime and The Mahdi do.
