Skip to comments.3 reasons why the Tea Party is losing August

Town hall season was supposed to be the anti-immigration fringe's time to shine. What happened?
We were just eight months into the Obama presidency, and Democratic congressmen headed home for recess only to get ambushed by mobs chanting their opposition to ObamaCare.
Now here we are in August 2013, when some observers thought that Tea Party groups would actually derail the tenuous legislative push for immigration reform.
But midway through August, the Tea Party is barely a blip on the national radar. What happened?
1. The anti-immigration Tea Party crowd is being out-crazied
Despite the heroic efforts of Rep. Steve "Cantaloupe Calves" King, the anti-immigration faction of the Tea Party is being crowded out by voices even farther out on the fringe.
2. The Republican leadership wants no part of Tea Party agitation
For all we know, the Tea Party fizzle may be exactly what the Republican leadership wants. According to Politico, "House Republican leaders have spoken about immigration only when asked during the August recess." That suggests Speaker John Boehner and his allies are looking to lower the temperature, creating a climate that eventually will allow compromise to win the day.
3. Republican money is on the other side
The 2009 town hall outbursts were nationally organized in part by conservative groups FreedomWorks and Americans for Prosperity, which were funded by the billionaire Koch brothers.
But the Kochs support immigration reform, as do Karl Rove and 100 other major Republican donors. As of June, pro-immigration groups had outspent opponents more than 3-to-1.

1) Elected Pubbies have run off to hide in the tall grass and are not holding town halls.
2) Nutso astroturfed pro-amnesty groups have cranked it up to 11 and are drowning us out with all the static.
3) At the end of the day the Pubbies know that they WANT to do this. They are just searching for the most evasive way to get there.
The left gets it partially right on this one. The tea party is being torpedoed by Karl Rove and the GOP-e “leadership!”
Go, Tea Party!! Dump the RINOS!!
It's even worse when fresh video surfaces showing same.
Yep. As usual, we’re all being played for fools.
One side believes in doing, and saying anything, true or not to lie, cheat, and force their agenda on Americans.. Legal or not. Socialism. They attempt to force their ideas on everyone.
The other side believes in truth, Laws, God, our Constitution, the right to own and bear guns, own private property, being faithful and upright and honest. Teaching our children, religious freedom, private enterprise.
One side seeks to enslave, control everything. Confiscation of monies, property, guns, socialism, communism, under threat of imprisonment, taking the children from the parents and brain/mind washing our youth to their ideas and threats.
We see this and all the while do nothing for the most part. No riots, no populace descending on Washington. We pray and look the other way.
THIS IS NOT WORKING. WE WILL LOSE DAY BY DAY.
NOTICE! WAKE UP!!! GOD HELP AMERICA. RESTORE OUR VALUES TO OUR FORMER FAITH. IN JESUS NAME AMEN.
They have torpedoed us from the very beginning.
Damn the GOP-e! Full speed ahead!
Don’t you love liberals that hate the eta party always telling us about something they have no clue about.

It is like democrats telling republicans how to vote to get elected
I believe Jesus is the only one who can save America, but at this time, I don't think the country will see a wholesale repentance. I keep praying for it, however.
Herein is the problem, not just for the Tea Party, but our side in general. We win one big victory, then we go back to being lazy a**es, sitting on the couch and yelling at O'Reilly. We squander the momentum we have after victories like 1994 and 2010. Instead of keeping the pressure on, we think the job's over and we can get back to planning our vacation to Disney Land.
That's not what made the Tea Party the force to be reckoned with it was in 2009-10. Getting out in the street, getting loud, getting on TV, getting in their faces, and scaring the bejeebers out of the Left is what was effective, and it's what we have to get back to doing.
Quit using the IRS 501c3 scandal as an excuse. Quit using the Koch Brothers not donating money as an excuse. The power of the Tea Party has always been that it's a grassroots movement; We The People stepping up, volunteering our own time and money, contributing regardless of whether its tax exempt or not!
If your local Tea Party has become lazy and ineffective, start up your own group. Offer the people an alternative to those who want to sit back and play the typical Republican political chess match. Siphon off those members who want to actually do something, and let the lazy old TP dinosaurs hold panel discussions at the local Holiday Inn. If the TP is to be a force to be reckoned with again, it has to go back to what got them there in the first place...passion, protest signs, courage, being highly visible, and getting lots and lots of feet out in the streets.
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
How about (owning and controling private property,) instead?
It’s wishful thinking because they want so bad for us to just go away!
Some how it began that the tea party, needed to heard and not seen.
IMHO...the tea party needs to once again hit the streets, but I am sure some here would tell me why that would be foolish.
That’s true plus this administration is still targeting conservative groups.
Wouldn't matter if we were loud enough.
I don't know about elsewhere, but I can't get anyone interested in a tea party rally or any kind of public display. Guess they're all too busy with their lives, and carrying signs isn't "fun" any more.
We have too many defeatists, and plain glass half empty types here on FR, imo.
DUMP the GOP-E and their ROVE-RINOS
