District Judge permanently blocks Oklahoma law forbidding sharia law in courts [Judge is an idiot]

The judge says that “upholding an individual’s constitutional rights” is more important than the will of the masses. I would agree if indeed the will of the masses violated the constitutional rights of an individual. However, I’m not sure how it’s an “individual’s constitutional right” to have a US court consider sharia or international law when adjudicating a case:

CBN NEWS – A U.S. district judge permanently blocked an Oklahoma law forbidding courts from considering Islamic or international law when deciding cases.

“While the public has an interest in the will of the voters being carried out, the court finds that the public has a more profound and long-term interest in upholding an individual’s constitutional rights,” the judge wrote according to Tulsa World.

Oklahoma voters passed the measure in 2010 with 70 percent of voters supporting it, but U.S. District Judge Vickie Miles-Legrange issued a temporary injunction after a Muslim resident sued.

On Thursday the U.S. district judge made the ban permanent when she issued an order forbidding the State Election Board from certifying the election.

Idiocy. When US firms invest in foreign countries, they have to abide by the laws of those countries. Foreign firms investing in the US have to abide by US laws.

It's way, way more complicated than that. When a foreign company does business with a US company there are multiple overlapping jurisdictions and transnational and international law are essential for anybody who handles foreign investment. If you think I'm wrong you obviously haven't worked in foreign trade or direct investment.

Nice try jerk. I’m not objecting to Shariah ban, I’m objecting to the ban on courts considering international law which is simply unworkable for business. Unless Oklahoma wants no foreign trade - which, if true, is pretty stupid.

Vicki Miles-LaGrange (born 1953) is the Chief U.S. District Judge for the Western District of Oklahoma. She was the first African-American woman to be sworn in as U.S. attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma. She was also the first African-American female elected to the Oklahoma Senate.

A native of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Miles-LaGrange, received a certificate from the University of Ghana in Accra, Ghana, West Africa in 1973, and graduated cum laude from Vassar College in 1974. She then received her J.D. from Howard University School of Law in Washington, DC in 1977. There, she was an editor of The Howard Law Journal.

Miles-LaGrange was nominated by Bill Clinton.

Based on her preliminary ruling in the case, one Oklahoma state legislator has urged Congress to impeach her.

Someone please explain how the 1st and 10th Amendments permit a Federal judge to intrude on religious matters in a state.

The federal judge was one U.S. District Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange in Oklahoma City.

Wikipedia shows that she was the first African-American woman to be sworn in as U.S. attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma and the first African-American female elected to the Oklahoma Senate

Here’s the write-up, including links to her written decision: http://blogs.wsj.com/law/2013/08/16/oklahoma-ban-on-sharia-law-unconstitutional-us-judge-rules/

Here is her information, including phone numbers: http://www.okwd.uscourts.gov/chambers/miles.htm

Oh and guess who was fighting against the constitutional amendment—the ACLU, of course.

“Oklahoma argued that the amendment didn’t infringe upon anyone’s religious practices. ”It neither favors nor discriminates against any religion,” the state claimed.

The American Civil Liberties Union challenged the amendment on behalf of Muneer Awad, executive director of the Oklahoma chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations.”

Get ready for OK to become another Michigan.

This fool judge can’t see that Sharia is completely antithetical to the Constitution. Sharia is no longer creeping. http://politichicks.tv/column/the-bill-of-rights-and-sharia-law/

US Constitution

In All Cases Where a State is a Party to the Action, The Supreme Court “SHALL” Have Original Jurisdiction.

The only STUPID one here is the Oklahoma Governor, He should Immediately have the Judge Arrested for “Usurping the Rights of a FREE STATE” in Direct Violation of the US Constitution, then IMPLEMENT THE LAW UNTIL the USSC takes the Case. Immediately Cancel and Stop ALL AGREEMENTS with the Federal Government thereby Eliminating All Rights the federal Government has to Enforce Federal laws within their Borders, YES the Feds can ONLY OPERATE with Explicit Approval from the State in Question, that’s also in the Constitution and virtually every State grants the Feds Permission. Just Withdraw all Permissions and watch them squirm.
