House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Dave Camp (R-Mich.) announced Friday that he will not seek Michigans open Senate seat in 2014.

Terri Lynn Land is running and she has some assets (won statewide office, wealthy), but state Republicans remember when she ran for governor in 2010 and dropped out after a horrible debate performance. I wouldn’t write her off yet, but the burden of proof is on her, not the party grass roots.
Bad news about Camp. I think they were hoping he’d run.
Well, if Camp’s heart wasn’t in it, it’s for the best that he’s forgoing a run.
Land could be a very good candidate—I just thought that Camp could hit Peters harder on fiscal issues. I remain cautiously optimistic that we will pick up that seat.
