Egypt Government Paints Opponents as Terrorists; U.S. Journalists Targeted
McClatchy ^ | Saturday, August 17, 2013 | Nancy A. Youssef and Amina Ismail

Egyptian presidential advisor Mustafa Hegazy described them as remnants of “religious fascism” that once governed the nation. The police called them infidels as they cleared a mosque Saturday where they were either hiding or shooting, depending on which side you listened to. Newscasters referred to them as armed gunmen.

And on the streets of Cairo, in front of the latest clashes, nearby residents used the terms animals, barbarians, and terrorists to describe supporters of ousted Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi.

It is why so many shrug at word that at least 1,042 people have been killed since June 26, according to an AFP count. It is why so many Egyptians support the government’s continued deadly crackdown of members of the Muslim Brotherhood, the secret organization through which Morsi ascended to the presidency. Over and over again, government officials, the media and now everyday Egyptians repeat the same message: supporters of the ousted regime are enemies of the state, killing security forces in an effort to destroy the nation.

“What are the police supposed to do when armed men are attacking them? Said a reporter covering a government press conference. “They have no choice. They are defending Egypt.”

For those opposed to military rule, dying for the cause of returning their democratic right to govern or in retribution for those killed is an act of Islamic martyrdom. The Brotherhood exploits every death, every clash, portraying themselves as victims.

The result is an Egypt turning into a battleground between willing assassins and willing martyrs. Those against the military believe they are defending Islam and a democratic election they prevailed in a year ago that was undone by the Morsi’s military ouster. Those who support the military believe that by securing the state from armed Islamists.

I have never seen such human rights atrocities in my life. Hey. Morsi WAS ELECTED. fair and square. After the military COUP, the army has now killed over 1000 and wounded 5000 civilians protesting the overthrow of democracy in the largest democracy in the Middle East in a slaughter of humanity not seen since Stalin. This is beyond belief. Why did Hillary overthrow our friend Mubarak!!!

That’s odd...

Egypt says “NO!” to Sharia...

yet, an federal judge says “YES!!” to sharia (for Oklahoma).

The Egyptians know that the one sure thing about the American media is that it has an agenda, and will distort, mangle, lie or completely ignore the truth to further that agenda. American journalists have their marching orders from Obama, and it’s not to do anything that will harm the image of the Muslim Brotherhood or make our foreign policy to appear as incoherent as it is.

I have never seen such human rights atrocities in my life.
____________________________________________

Nor have I..

I wish Morsi and his cut throat Islamist terrorists who call themselves the Moslem Brotherhood would stop murdering defenseless Christians and burning down their homes and churches..

The human rights atrocities committed by Morsi and his Moslem Brootherhood must be stopped somehow..

Do you think Obama will send in US troops to help the Egyptian military ???

Morsi and his terrorist gang are such animals that they even hide in mosques and shoot people outside..

While Morsi and his evil empire are not raping women in the streets anymore, they are still going to the homes of Christians and kidnapping the young Christian girls..

something must be dont to save the innocent victims from Morsi and his Islamic fanatical hordes..

Thank goodness Morsi has been overthrown by the people ..

I bet you never lived in the Middle East. Unless your post is sarcastic in the nature, Egypt is no way was or will be democratic country. Fair elections? Most of the population have an IQ in the low double digits. You can buy their votes with a carton of eggs. Anyway ,you deserve Darwin Award.

You can’t compare Egyptian politics to ours or their understanding of what Democracy is when we are a Republic.....they are still infants in learning what that means and it isn’t just about ‘Ballot theocracy’ which to Morsi and his cluster of followers means if you win you “RULE” and that by Shariah Law...which opposed their constitution...so he changed the constitution!

You need to review how it came about that even Morsi’s own cabinet were trying to work around him because they knew he was pulling the nation in a direction the people did not want to go.

Hitler also was elected you know....and had Morsi continued to do what the Muslim Brotherhoods agenda was for him and those like him he was appointing ,they would be moving fast now to an Islamic state.

SiSi spent months attempting to convince Morsi to balance his agenda...he refused time and again.....and further it became clear to the admistration Morsi wasn’t operating with all his marbles connecting....Leaders who met with him also noticed this clearly

So it isn’t about “Ballotocracy”....it’s about protecting a nation from hands who were choosing to destroy it’s freedom. The people spoke and the Military agreed to support them.

MTW Whoever has the Presidency in Egypt will have to have the Militaries support......the people are too violent and emotional based yet...but they are learning otherwise.

don't fall into the trap of attributing those high death figures to the military and the POLICE

Morsi’s guys are picking off police military and many civilians muslims and Christian to make it look like the military dun it. What is the death toll among the Egyptian police? Pretty high

Why do you think civilians are besieging MB protesters in places like that mosque? They needed the military to get them OUT of there alive because civilians the MB has been tormenting have turned vigilante and want to kill then

Yes Morsi and the MB got Egypt into a nice juicy civil war after only one year of the MB trying to actually run a govt instead of just topple one, and the Egyptian man on the street with no tourism job, his govt offices burned by the MB, no food, and no safety for his wife and family is plenty pizzed - at the MB

You have seen such human atrocities in your life if you look around. Last week 1000 people were killed in Iraq-
muslim on muslim

Because of Barack Hussein (I adore dictator Morsi & the Muslim Brotherhood) Obama, Hillary Clinton, Morsi and his terrorist Muslim Brotherhood, etc., most Egyptians no longer have a working economy or jobs!!! The rich, profitable, major job producing, tourist business is dead, thanks to Obama, Clinton and their buddies.

The Egyptian military is laughing and mocking Obama for the dummy that he and his cohorts are. They have learned a valuable lesson from Putin of Russia and the PRC leadership. Obama is a totally useless, empty suit!!! We are the laughing stock and joke of the entire world world. The unfounded, misread comments of this poster show the lack of understanding of the true facts surrounding events in the Middle East

In short, Obama, Clinton & Kerry, etc. have destroyed the little stability that was present there, witness Libya, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Sudan, Yemen, Afghanistan, etc. Obama has destroyed all of them!!! Porr poster is living in the Obama bubble!!! Sad!!!

The Brotherhood exploits every death, every clash, portraying themselves as victims.

They have learned a lot from the so called palestinian fellow travelers. They can't win the real war because the people know them for what they are so they must try to win the propaganda war outside of their country and have outsiders win power for them.
