The owner of the encrypted email service used by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden says he could face criminal charges for refusing to comply with a secret federal court order issued last week.

Ladar Levison abruptly shut down his company, Lavabit LLC, last week to avoid being forced to hand over customers’ personal information and communications.

James Trump, a senior litigation counsel at the US attorney’s office in Alexandria, Virginia, contacted Levinson’s lawyer on August 8 - the day Levinson ended Lavabit’s services, NBC News reported. The attorney was told that Levison had “violated the court order,” leading to speculation that he may be charged with contempt of court.

I would expect the Star Chamber to seal everything. The Bush-Obama team has pretty much done away with the Constitutional rights that we grew up with.

Methinks the gummint is playin' games with a war ... WITH .. terror.

Scared people do oft times irrational things, many times drastic, and mostly deadly.

Young boys and men learn ... well .. they USED TO learn .. because they WERE boys and men .... not to approach a cornered enemy ... his back is to the wall and he's desperate to live or get home that night.

The gummint is forcing people into corners and using the court is only a delay.

The Gummint Must Be Stopped

one of the two entrepreneurs that closed secure email corps last week said what they threatened was so secret he could not even tell his lawyer what he was threatened with.

0 doesn’t like to be told “no”. Possible outcomes:

a. Feds just go to NSA who already has his whole website downloaded already
b. Ladar doesn’t come into work and is never seen again.
c. Feds get a search warrant and raid his office, Ladar later receives a tax audit notice and occassionally notices his phone is acting “funny”
D. All of the above.

Shut up and be a good comrade, or they might “find” criminal activity on your computer.

(And they can go back for years looking for it. And your phone calls.)

Welcome to the USSA.

This is exactly what Snowden blew wide open - they want his records and they demand EVERYONE's records...

While folks differ on their opinion of him, I believe more every day that he did us a favor and if our "interests" are hurt, so be it. We (the current government and its supporters) have become Chicago low-life, gutter sludge both at home and on the world stage.

A. Microwaved with their new citizen heat gun?
B. Soon to be able to see his own balls without bending over?
C. Forced to work as servant for NAACP or Black Panther Party headquarters for a year and say, “yes, massah” when given an order?
D. Disguised as goat and sent over to al Quaida or Muslim Brotherhood camps?

Moving toward old style tyranny: The black cars and agents come in the night and the target disappears. Time to read The Gulag Archipelago.

Levison should wage a very public fight against these government goons-—they hate that and will back down.

Its time to really, truly, and seriously man up, put your life on the line, and say F YOU and spill your guts on these government threats.

Go public and go all out.

I seriously would. I am so pissed.

Look, we all better darn well wake up to the fact that the FISA court is a violation of our Constitution and Rights of the Citizen in so many ways as to be a valid enough reason to demand it be shutdown or over thrown. (Did ya’ get these keystrokes there NSA folks!) I used some dangerous words there...

Why does a ‘jury of our peers’ matter to the average citizen? Why was there ever amendments written INTO LAW to protect us from such an overreach by government? Those amendments are not ‘guidelines!’ They are the core and whole of the foundation of our Law and the very thing our elected leaders have sworn to uphold AND DEFEND us against those who would abuse power, in the very manner we see being foisted upon us today.

The government would not need to fear their citizens, if the elected leaders followed the law themselves.

Today, make today, the day we say to our government that ‘secret’ courts and ‘secret’ court orders hold no meaning or legal authority over an American Citizen. We must let them know we will no longer tolerate the government’s intrusions into our conversations, dialogues, discussion forums, email, phones, letters, or our very lives without appropriate due process of law IN AN OPEN COURT as guaranteed by our Constitution and Bill of Rights. Secret courts belong to the lands of paranoid dictators and usurpers of political power. Secret courts have no business being perpetrated upon a freeman or sovereign republic nation.
