CRUZ releases birth certificate
Dallas Morning News ^ | 8-18-13 | Todd Gillman

WASHINGTON — Born in Canada to an American mother, Ted Cruz became an instant U.S. citizen. But under Canadian law, he also became a citizen of that country the moment he was born.

Unless the Texas Republican senator formally renounces that citizenship, he will remain a citizen of both countries, legal experts say.

That means he could assert the right to vote in Canada or even run for Parliament. On a lunch break from the U.S. Senate, he could head to the nearby embassy — the one flying a bright red maple leaf flag — pull out his Calgary, Alberta, birth certificate and obtain a passport.

The media is already mounting its offensive against Cruz. That earns him my support.

If Ted is smart, he will petition the SCOTUS to rule on his eligibility as a POTUS candidate.

I would bet that all four lib Justices vote to allow him to rum to protect Obama from post-2016 attacks on our 44th President.

Then, just one vote will allow Cruz. Any of the five other Justices simply needs to dislike Hillary! in order to define NBC.

I would be a lot that at least one Justice would prefer Cruz over HRC and would settle the issue.

*********************

Now, I would prefer Palin run for Senator as part of a R takeover and she gets some resume-enhancing committee assignments.

So, who for VP? I think it needs to be a female to counter HRC. A non-Hispanic female with either superior governing skills or foreign affairs/security would probably neutralize many of the usually attacks on the R candidates.
Suggestions? I would rule out Condi Rice to avoid the Bush Derangement Syndrome from erupting.

Elaine Chao maybe?

This is the problem:

"Rafael Cruz, now a pastor in suburban Dallas, fled Cuba for Texas as a teen in 1957. He remained a Cuban citizen until he became a naturalized American in 2005."

Many Cubans kept thier citizenship with dream of returning home after Castro.

Dual citizenship does not disqualify anyone for President.

One of the arguments that have been put forward as a reason why Obama is not Constitutionally qualified to be president is that dual citizenship negates natural born citizenship.

Exactly so, and there are good reasons for this.

This, btw is what some of us brought up long ago. It’s good to see FR finally starting to catch up.

“But if Obama is not qualified because of dual citizenship then isn’t the same true for Cruz?”

Yes. Anyone who is claiming that Cruz is a natural born citizen is very dangerous to this country.

Wrong, I have nieces and nephews born in Canada, with an America and Canada parent at their birth, instantly, they had dual citizenship.

"Wouldn't he also be a citizen of Cuba as well? He could be president of THREE COUNTRIES!.................." And he would definitely be a "natural born citizen" of all of those countries right?! lol! I believe we are witnessing the purposeful destruction of the natural born clause. Obama was the start, if the very next president is not natural born I believe precedent will be set and it is bye bye to the natural born clause. And to top it all off, people claiming to be lovers of the United States constitution, are some of the ones screaming the loudest to kill the clause through electing a man who had at least divided loyalties at birth (they just dont seem to know it.... weird) Oh what strange times we live in......

My opinion is Marco Rubio is dangerous because he is a devout liberal democrat Amnesty supporter.

Cruz on the other hand is fantastic.

Please review this post and #13.

They seem to clearly state my understanding of the law. I can not find any other answer except people searching for the meaning of “IS”, Clinton Speak, that will allow their desired result in qualification for President.

Cruz could be the best guy in the world and it still does not make him eligible to be president.

BTW... Have you ever wondered why it is that every candidate choice put before you is inherently flawed. Either they are a wolf in sheep’s clothing or now they are not just normal US citizens born in the US to US parents. Is that really an accident?

And I think there is an intentional effort under way to destroy the natural born citizenship clause of the constitution. It is very inconvenient for the global power establishment.

This issue of the definition of what constitutes a natural born citizen as provided in the Constitution to be eligible to be President has never been decided by the courts. Yes, Cruz is a citizen by birth but does he meet the criterion of naturally born.

Birth Abroad to One Citizen and One Alien Parent in Wedlock

A child born abroad to one U.S. citizen parent and one alien parent acquires U.S. citizenship at birth under Section 301(g) of the INA provided the U.S. citizen parent was physically present in the United States or one of its outlying possessions for the time period required by the law applicable at the time of the child's birth. (For birth on or after November 14, 1986, a period of five years physical presence, two after the age of fourteen, is required. For birth between December 24, 1952 and November 13, 1986, a period of ten years, five after the age of fourteen, is required for physical presence in the United States or one of its outlying possessions to transmit U.S. citizenship to the child.) The U.S. citizen parent must be genetically related to the child to transmit U.S. citizenship.

Wrong WhiskeyX

My son was born in The United Kingdom of American Parents. I did not have to file for citizenship for him. I had to file a CRBA “Consular Report of Birth Abroad” with the United States Embassy in London. My son was automatically a United States Citizen.

Link to details of CRBA for birth abroad. http://travel.state.gov/law/family_issues/birth/birth_593.html

He is also a citizen of the United Kingdom. I filed for and obtained a UK passport for him, and it was perfectly legal. My son can not be President of the United States as he is a dual national with dual allegiance. He can be President is he renounces his British Citizenship.

Ted Cruz can be President is he renounces his Canadian Citizenship. It would be very amusing if he has already done this and these attacks on him are moot.
