Journalism is just a euphanism for studies in liberal propaganda dissemination. Looked at another way, journalism is the marketing of liberal ideology.

That could depend on the major. I cannot imagine that there is much of a career in philosophy, but there is a lot of opportunity for a science major.

The philosophy majors I have known had no difficulty getting good employment. Besides those who became teachers, library scientists and priests, several went on to become programmers, another went to get a Masters at U of Chicago and ran some great number on financial exchanges for a number of years, etc.

If you choose a good college, good courses with good teachers, and work diligently, it can be more than just a vocational school. It can give you additional tools that can help in every aspect of life, not just career.

The former group does little if anything to make the US more competitive in this world or improve our GDP. Just sayin...

Fortunately, I got only an AA in journalism, which led to 30 years of accounting in show-biz.

But the greatest experience of my working life - done for next to nothing - has been coaching high school baseball!

Of course, you realize that to most Freepers college is just a high-level job-training school. They never seem to see it as anything but that. What a shame.

I was a journalism grad and I realized in the last year of my college career that I didn’t want to be discriminated for my politics in the work place and wanted to make some better coin. I went into marketing and never looked back.

I left the scribbling profession in 1980 and went into coal sales. Our company was bought out by a mid sized independent oil company and I learned selling petroleum products.

Some transition, eh ?
