Seattle Mayor Invites Businesses to Post 'Gun-Free Zone' Signs in Their Stores August 19, 2013 - 3:18 PM By Penny Starr

(CNSNews.com) – Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn, a Democrat, is inviting local merchants to voluntarily post “Gun Free Zone” signs in their businesses, letting customers who have guns know they should shop elsewhere.

“We are here to support businesses that do not wish to have guns on their premises” McGinn said in a press release issued by Washington CeaseFire, which is partnering with the mayor for the campaign. “The police department regularly enforces trespass laws when a visitor to a business violates that business’s rules.”

“We will continue to do so, and I thank these businesses for standing up for the safety of their customers,” McGinn said.

About a dozen businesses have signed up so far, according to a King5.com report.

“We’re making a statement as a community,” Ralph Fascitelli, the Washington CeaseFire board president, said in the press release. “We know this won’t stop someone determined to cause violence, but we hope that standing together and giving businesses a tool to say no to guns will change the conversation around gun violence.”

Oh boy! Good news for the criminal class.

This asshead mayor should be arrested for aiding and abetting.

Might as well post a “Rob me, I’m unarmed!” sign.

I wouldn’t sell an insurance policy to a business with a sign like this in the window. Probably never crossed anybody’s mind in Seattle, but that wouldn’t surprise me.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but most gun violence involves one of these factors:

1. Gang or drug-related violence.
2. Domestic violence.
3. Robbery of convenience stores or gas stations.
4. Violence at nightclubs and bars.
5. Bank robberies.
6. Random violence perpetrated by the mentally ill.

Thus, the vast majority of businesses are typically not affected by gun violence, and cannot realistically screen customers for gun possession without pat-downs that will turn customers away.

Oh, as someone said, it's a race to market one's self as the most extreme progressivist prior to the mayoral election. This would be considered "normal" in Seattle but not in much of the rest of the state.

Does the Mayor have such a sign posted on his property? Right on the front yard where EVERYONE can see it. Lead by example, dude...
