Scalia: High court shouldn’t ‘invent new minorities that get special protections’

Justice Antonin Scalia warned Monday that the Supreme Court is overstepping its authority on matters that should be left to Congress or voters.

Speaking at an event sponsored by the Federalist Society in Montana, Scalia said the high court should not intervene on issues such as wiretapping and “inventing” new minorities, according to reports.

“It's not up to the courts to invent new minorities that get special protections,” Scalia said, in an apparent reference to the court's recent decisions on gay marriage and federal benefits for same-sex couples.

Stop all of this crap.

America is composed of 300 million individuals.

Every single one of us, is different from every other one of us.

Stop unjustly discriminating.

End ALL laws targeting any particular group.

That said, bring back American jobs. If we were not shrinking US employment by sending American jobs overseas, we would be much better off.

Bring back American jobs.

Ah, but certain groups enjoy their special protections, and refuse to give them up willingly - e.g. affirmative action.

So the identity-group politics continue - for everyone except plain ol’ white heterosexuals.

Scalia is the only public figure I know that knows how to debate these issues intellectually and crush the other sides arguments.

Arguments like ‘I just believe that ....” which is the typical one used to oppose gay rights is like holdng off the Indians attack with empty guns, no wonder the troops flee.

Republicans conceding that gay behaviour is part of humans natural human identity, just like skin color is, surrendered on the spot, it doesn't matter if Grahamnesty says he believes...cos his mammy told him .....after that.

And if you mention it, you’re either an “Uncle Tom”, a “Racist”, or a member of the “Crook Nosed Cabal” according to the race based identity politic groups.
Nice to know we’re all loved, right?
It is, after all, an effort to shut down dissent and foster division in the population.

Multiculturalism is one of the most effective, and subtle, ideas ever promoted to divide a country’s populace.

Early America had it right - the “melting pot” approach is the way to go. Everyone’s on the same page, speaks the same language, shares the same values, etc.

The jobs will come back when the US makes conditions attractive to business to bring the jobs back. Not until then. As usual, in our haste to “protect” workers by regulating (i.e., strangulating) business, we drove business out of our country. Amend the tax code, OSHA, Obamacare, immigration laws so that business is encouraged to return. Don’t expects jobs back here until then.

No, America is composed MOSTLY of individuals.
Some are lazy, worthless, wastes of space that are born thinking the world owes them everything and get through their life making a living off their race.

Scalia deserved the honor of being promoted to Chief. Of course that would have necessitated a vote that Bush didn’t want.
