Australian Tim Fischer capitalizes on tragedy to advance agenda (Blame the gun)
Examiner ^ | August 21, 2013 | Brian Mark Weber

Former Australian Deputy Prime Minister Tim Fischer, in reaction to the tragic murder of baseball player Chris Lane in Oklahoma last Friday, has decried the incident as a direct consequence of organizations that support gun rights such at the National Rifle Association. Fischer claimed that the murder is "the bitter harvest and legacy of the policies of the NRA that even blocked background checks for people buying guns at gunshows" and added that, "People should take this into account before going to the United States."

Fischer's comments are disgraceful in myriad ways. To advance one's political agenda by tapping into the powerful emotions that continue to emanate from this tragedy is beneath the dignity of anyone, let alone a former deputy prime minister. No law controlling or banning guns would have prevented those Oklahoma thugs from opening fire into the back of Chris Lane. Sadly, Fischer and other Australians who reject the right of people to protect themselves have lately taken advantage of gun-related deaths in the United States to support the continuation of gun control in their home country and to make Australians think that they are the beneficiaries of such measures. By doing so, they seek to convince Australians that they should be thankful for having their guns confiscated, lest they should be susceptible to the similar acts of violence. And do not believe for a second that Tim Fischer's comments are isolated remarks hastily spouted without any connection to politics, for Fischer and former Australian Prime Minister John Howard are anxious to bring Australia's gun control measures to the United States.

Someone better inform the poor chap that once one takes away certain race upon race crimes in four US cities (Detroit, DC, Chicago, and New Orleans, if I remember correctly) our murder rate descends to fourth from the bottom.

Guns are not our problem.

Curtain cultures are.

Nonsense. This kids were all minors. They can't purchase a handgun legally. All the laws and regulations in the world wouldn't have prevented them from getting their guns. It would only prevented law abiding citizens the opportunity to defend themselves against them.

Soros helps fund U.N. Grab.

The anti-gun prohibitionist U.N. crowd has been reenergized by the prospect of an Obama administration in the White House to assist their efforts to disarm American citizens.

This is a major reason why Hungarian-born socialist billionaire George Soros (who was born George Schwartz), the sugar daddy for gun control schemes here and abroad, has backed anti-gun Barack Obama since his U.S. Senate run, with his vast fortune. He has done this by funneling huge amounts of cash through his Open Society Institute (OSI), which operates in at least 50 countries, to bankroll gun control schemes around the world.

Soros hired an experienced activist, Rebecca Peters, a central figure in disarming the people of Australia, and a leader in the effort to ban all privately owned firearms throughout the world. Peters is such an anti-gun extremist that she even argues that police should be disarmed. "When police begin to carry guns, that motivates criminals to carry guns," she complained. I'm sure if she had to patrol the South side of Chicago alone in a marked squad car, she would change her mind in a hurry. Elitists like her must live in some kind of a utopian dream world. It's obvious that she doesn't understand the criminal mind. One of the things that terrifies criminals the most is an armed citizen who is willing to defend themselves and their families.

NOBODY seems to avail themselves of the fact that it is ILLEGAL for these minors to posses a gun in the first place! It is against the laws in ALL 57 states already! Did The Laws stop them? Did The Laws prevent them from obtaining a gun? Did The Laws stop them from using the illegally obtained gun?

Short answer: No

And it never will................

Opportunist prostitute! The gun used in the murder was an illegally possessed gun of unknown origin! One again the pandering politicians of liberal ilk espoused to preposterous claims. Shame on them all and may the sentence these thugs receive be swift and righteous!

From what I gather, he isn't Left enough for the New Australia (or New New Zealand).

Once I thought those nations may be my escape pod from America but I've heard they went socialist.

Well, Mr. Fischer, if it was the gun who did this, why was the gun not arrested and charged and now facing trial?

Why were three black males arrested? What did they have to do with it?

If the three black males shot Lane with a crossbow, would it have been the crossbow’s fault? The bolt’s fault?

If the three black males clubbed him to death with a baseball bat, would it be the baseball bat’s fault?

If the three black males beat Lane to death with their hands, would it be their hands fault?

Or, Mr. Fisher, is the death of Lane the fault of the three black males who murdered him?

Liberals are the problem. Most gun violence, black or white, is committed by Obama supporters.

A country can't pay people to do nothing and expect them to "do nothing". Idol hands ARE the devils workshop, and no after scrool basket ball is going to work.

There are breeds of dogs who, if you don't give them something to do, they'll find something themselves, and it will be something destructive. These young people need jobs. I'm not talking about "make work" gooberment jobs, that's really just another form of Welfare. I'm saying we need to end Welfare and change the child labor laws so these young people can LEARN the value of work. We don't need illegal immigrants doing low skilled jobs. We need to end Welfare, put poor Americans in the low skilled jobs so they can have a chance to value themselves.

Hey Tim!

Just which gun control laws do you believe these gangs would obey?

The same ones the Australian Mafia comply with?

Where is the Austrailian murder rate today, vs. the murder rate the year before you banned guns?

Oh! Up 56% you say!

Why don’t you get back to us once you figure out a solution to actually getting your criminals under contol.

You might want to refer to Australia’s History books.
Weren’t you once a prison colony?

I just got back from a photo safari in South Africa, and spent some time talking with the guides about gun control there. They told me that under the current regime, they are allowed to own one firearm for self defense, and one for hunting. That’s it...and only after a permit process that usually takes a year or more for approval.

On the drive back to Johannesburg, one of the guides told me that his wife was home alone with her baby when 3 men invaded their house and robbed them at gunpoint, just a few days earlier. He’s been trying to get a gun for over year now.

The murder rate in South Africa is 6 times higher than that of the United States.

You’d think Australians would know better about coming to America, a nation governed by Black-Run America (BRA). After all, remember what happened to nine Australians trapped in the Superdome in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina

Aussies know that the problem isn’t the gun...it is the low impulse control negro....

Well...it can be. It just depends on what one values most, doesn't it? Just for an example, the police in Japan have far more powers than they do in the United States; you can be held for weeks for interrogation without being charged or given legal representation, and police have a far greater and intrusive involvement in people's day to day lives.

Then, Skippy, stay home in your Down Under socialist utopia.

We backward Yanks will somehow manage without your East German style gun laws.

Where is the Austrailian murder rate today, vs. the murder rate the year before you banned guns?

Oh! Up 56% you say!

Um - no, actually, it isn't. That's a lie that's being spread around by people who seem to think that the justice of their cause justifies dishonesty - one of a number of such lies in fact.

I don't like Australia's overly restrictive gun laws. But I don't see any reason for people to lie about facts - which people, like yourself, then repeat in good faith, assuming they are true.

On the most recent figures (2009/2010) Australia's homicide rate is currently at its lowest level since the Australian Institute of Criminology began recording statistics on a consistent basis in 1989. And compared to 1994/1995 (the year before the Port Arthur Massacre and the subsequent changes to Australian gun laws) and 1995/1996 (the year of the massacre), not only is the rate down - the actual number of homicides is lower, despite Australia's population increasing since that time.

(In Australia, the statistical year normally runs from July 1 to August 30, to allow for compatible comparison with northern hemisphere data in those cases where seasons matter - they probably don't for crime rates, but its convenient to use the same measure for all statistics).

In 1994/1995, Australia had 326 homicide incidents. In 1995/1996, the number was 302.

In 2009/2010, that number was 257.

Australia's current homicide rate is 1.2/100,000. Prior to the Port Arthur massacre and the gun laws that came from it, the rate was 1.6/100,000.

There's a lot of things wrong with Australia's gun laws - stupid restrictions that accomplish nothing. And the homicide rate began its decline before the laws were passed (it was 1.9 in the early 1990s), so nobody can say those laws caused the decline. But facts are facts, and when people use incorrect information, they damage their arguments - I sometimes wonder if the incorrect data is distributed by gun control advocates to deliberately try and do that.

Incidentally, Tim Fischer, is a large part of the reason why guns are not actually banned in Australia. He was John Howard's Deputy Prime Minister, and Howard did want to virtually ban guns after Port Arthur. Fischer is one of the people who persuaded him that guns in the right hands are tools that can be used appropriately, and that anything approaching a total ban would be overly restrictive and harsh. Fischer objects to guns in the hands of criminals - not guns in the hands of law abiding citizens. He does support gun control - but also supported the provisions that allowed those without criminal histories to continue to own them. As I do. As do somewhere around a million other Australians.

Right on mate. This Fischer is a wanker of an exponentially high order. To cowardly to address the immigration issues in Australia and is too afraid of his friends in the global pc thought police to call this crime for what it is. I was born in Scotland but spent most of my life in the states and have noticed the emergence of a rotten sub-culture in the states made up of people who embrace the rap culture and spend all day watching MTV, playing video games and feeling welfare is a right.

I read some statistic about if we removed the violent crimes commited by blacks, the states would have a crime rate similiar to Belgium which is pretty tame. Does this mean the two wonderful black people I work with are destined to a life of crime? No.....so don’t even think of casting about the bloody racism charges. This is a thug culture based on rap music, MTV and a bunch of twits who are more worried about how their NBA team will do than how their family is.

I’ve never supported the death penalty, I think a lifetime of extremely hard labor in a gulag would be better but these pieces of pond scum deserve the worst penalty we can give them and their parents should be made to pay the poor bloke’s family a restitution or should be made to work to denounce this rap culture.

It is not guns Fischer, you twit. It is a culture in the states that thinks food stamps and rap music are what life is all about. I hope MTV and the like are happy for creating generations of scumbags.
