Congressional critics of government surveillance blasted the NSA and promised additional hearings after the Obama administration on Wednesday declassified documents that show thousands of Americans emails had been scooped up.
The unlawful collection, which the documents reflect ended in 2011, confirmed the worst fears of some lawmakers and civil liberties advocates that the NSAs ability to monitor foreigners Internet conversations had collided with the Constitution, threatened U.S. citizens and will require significant reforms.
Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), who had long alluded to such abuses, stressed in a statement that the revelations were overdue. He added that the law itself is insufficient to adequately protect the civil liberties and privacy rights of law-abiding Americans.

You can’t have Socialism without a Socialist State...Trouble is, most of the ‘Gimmie-dat’ people in this country are ok with that..
They don't hate it. They ignore it. Just like the rest of the constitution.
Obama hates America, and America is the Constitution.
My problem with this country today is that so many people are like the Amish horse that wears blinders. Blinders are placed on a horse to keep it from seeing what is going on around it and force it to see straight ahead.
The Congress is wearing these blinders big time. So are approximately half of America. If America does not open its eyes we are going straight ahead into one hell of a mess.
Bankruptcy, Moral decay, Socialism, We will end up unarmed and defenseless, while foreigners sneaking into our country eventually turn us into a third world craphole.
This Meta-data thing is really bugging me. On NPR this morning they were saying it is “just” information about the call or email, not the information itself.
I said to myself, “huh”. What did we call it in the days before cell phones and email? We called it “Phone records”. And how was law enforcement able to get their hands on it? Through a subpoena. It is a violation of privacy. It is a search. And the fourth amendment says all you need to know about it.
If there is no subpoena, NO law enforcement agency has the right to collect this info according to the fourth amendment. I don’t care if you DO want to call it “meta-data”. We have a right to the privacy of our metadata.
End of story.
I confess that since before 2008 I have been watching all of this as watching a slow motion train wreck from a distance. It is why I moved from the city (Seattle) to the country (central KY) in 2011 to property I bought two weeks before the 2008 election. And I even did that fully aware that this can impact me there as well. There is a clear message in the first ten minutes of “Inglorious Basterds”. Heck, in many ways it even looks like my place. Nobody is really safe in the end if they really want you.
But I have an Ecclesiastes attitude about the whole thing.
I disagree. There are some with blinders, but the majority of 0 supporters know what's going on and wholeheartedly approve of it. Do you think that the 47,000,000 on food stamps/EBT are going to vote against their freebies or the communist filth in the white house who expanded their plunder? Of course not. Do you think that the unemployed who got their unemployment benefits extended to 99 weeks are going to now look for work? Of course not. All of the parasites who have been given more slop in the public trough at the working taxpayers' expense are going to vote for the bestower of largesse. They're not unaware, they've been corrupted and are eager participants in the destruction of the country.
You are not wrong, mostly it is the Democrats and RINO’s who watch as Obama takes over the responsibilities of the Congress with his Executive Orders, and tells them flat out that if they do not pass what he wants he will do it himself. His arrogance is amazing and they just sit and twiddle their thumbs as he takes control of every important function of Government.
They must be wearing blinders if they cannot see where this is leading.
As for the people receiving these entitlements, even they should be able to see that we are reaching the tipping point where those working can no longer support the millions on the Government tit.
The Government has agencies paying thousands of people which are totally useless and in fact are damaging to this country. These agencies should be closed down. Of course they will not, they are self-perpetuating themselves through regulations.
On NPR this morning they were saying it is just information about the call or email, not the information itself.
Does anyone doubt that National Propaganda Radio would be reporting this in a far more sinister light if a Republican was president?
Thank you, Edward Snowden. Without you, our politicians would never have been forced to talk about this unconstitutional tyranny.
Lately my “Good guy/Bad guy” monitor on Snowden had been tipping into the Good guy range.
But they don't - mostly don't see, and if they do see don't care. The average 0/democratic voter combines dumb with willful ignorance. Demoshits have been demonizing the "rich" (anyone not on welfare and who actually WORKS and wants to do more than "get by") for decades.
The entitlement mentality is bone deep, and runs something like this: "I'm poor because those rich people unfairly got what's due to me. They're just lucky and they deserve to be taxed because they don't deserve their wealth. The government has plenty of money and I deserve some of it because I'm special. Work is for losers." They are in the 49% of the population that doesn't pay taxes

thousands millions of people which are totally useless and in fact are damaging to this countrym
Total agreement from me on this. Most government jobs are just another form of welfare.
