CLEVELAND– A mentally challenged man was violently assaulted while walking home from work in Cleveland.
According to family members, John Rager, 47, was savagely beaten last Wednesday while walking on E. 152nd Street after his shift ended at 1 a.m.
“They were out to do as much bodily harm as they could,” said Rager’s sister, Jimi-Lee Hoover.
Despite his challenges, Rager worked every night for the past 15 plus years at a Cleveland Heights bakery.
He needed both the bus and his bicycle to get to and from work, but last week his bike had a flat tire so he had to walk part of the way home.
That’s when a group of men attacked John in an unprovoked and vicious manner and continued beating him until a woman happened to drive by.
John’s sister Jimi-Lee Hoover said, “Luckily there was a good Samaritan – an angel that called the police and yelled to scare the group of men away.”
But when officers arrived they were apparently misled by what they saw.
John had been picking up empty beer cans and placing them in a bag as we walked home.
His family said he did that often to supplement the family’s income.
Both he and his wife, Dee Dee, are mentally challenged and the family said they need all of the help they can get.
When police arrived they reportedly saw the beer cans and smelled alcohol.
Despite the blood and injuries, the initial police report stated that the injuries appeared, “self-inflicted.”

No indication from the eyewitness as to what racial demographic the attackers represented. But the "self inflicted" indicates to me that the LEOs were told as much by the eyewitness and they decided another race riot wasn't worth the bother of making any arrests.
Must have been the Amish, getting revenge for St Trayvon.

Yes - isn’t it “convenient” that there is absolutely NO description of the perps being given out. Hmmm.... I believe that the silence on the description speaks volumes, especially if the recent developments in Cleveland are any indication.

I believe it was just past full moon that time of the morning there. A very bright, almost full moon. Should have been plenty of light if there were no clouds.
