Union leaders are joining the growing chorus of opposition to the war on coal being waged by President Obama through the Environmental Protection Agency.
Raymond Ventrone, who represents more than 2,000 members of the Boilermakers Union in Western Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia, voiced his opposition to the EPAs latest coal regulations in a letter to the editor in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Ventrone said that he and his fellow boilermakers helped install EPA-approved pollution-control equipment at a coal-fired power plant three years ago. But now, those upgrades have been deemed insufficient by the very same agency by virtue of new regulations created without a vote in Congress or input from the public, Ventrone said.
According to Ventrone, two coal plants in his area will be closing due to the EPAs regulations a loss of 400 jobs in southwestern Pennsylvania. Those two coal plants are among the 207 plants that will close in the next decade due to conversions to natural gas and EPA regulations.
Ventrone also said that the EPAs goal is not cleaner air but eliminating coal, because even though coal usage has tripled, the presence of pollutants has decreased 56 percent. We can have clean air and keep coal as a vital part of our economy, Ventrone said.

The same people who helped put this guy in office are now complaining? Really?
Dear union leader: To quote Scarface, “you stupid fool; look at you now.” May your rank and file come looking to you for retribution.
The “war on coal” should be a surprise to NO ONE. So tell us, what secret promises were you given that the clear statements to the public were just lies and you could trust Obama not to stick it to ya?
Unions getting what they paid for...
William Loeb from beyond the grave?
T W I C E ! !
Citizens and unemployed coal miners slam lnion leaders who put Obama in office.
Obama told these people exactly what he intended to do before they voted for him.
Now they are shocked at his actions.
The problem with unions are their leaders.
They are the ones that are getting the cash.
Poor little workers get promises.
“William Loeb from beyond the grave?”
You’re betting on a very old demographic. I may be the last one.
The dug the pit. Now get in it.
My desire to join with these union people is tempered by the knowledge they’d vote for Obastard again in a New York second.
A conservative Republican would’ve gotten the votes in OH and PA coal country.
I bet they supported the new EPA regulations 3 years ago and used that as reason to vote for him again. But that gravy train left the station so now their pissed..
Hey boilermaker president man, go F#(! yourself!
F you pal.
this magic negro is your boy pal.
you helped put his sorry marxist moose limb ass there,
bend over and take it
Similar to jail house or death bed religion.
Now comes your hell on earth.
“The same people who helped put this guy in office are now complaining? Really?”
These idiots were quick to support Obama when they thought only some rich guys were going to be hurt.
Only now, when they begin to feel the pain they thought they were inflicting on others, do they understand.
Sorry. There’s no room left in the lifeboat for people who were once so willing to throw others to the sharks so quickly. Screw ‘em.
A mere performance for the union card carriers.
If the union "leaders" actually gave a darn, they would be OUT FRONT in the fight against amnesty for illegal aliens (aka takers of re-distributed jobs), n'est ce pas?
Union leader slam the DEMOCRATS war on coal and the DEMOCRATS “ACA” and then turn around and support DEMOCRATS 100%
