I saw a guy on public transit the other day who was carrying a hammer (his long T-shirt hung over it) in his back pocket. No, he wasn’t dressed like a carpenter and he didn’t have a tool box or a tool belt.

I met a black guy at the Oakland Greyhound station a few weeks ago with a claw hammer sticking out of his back pack.

I asked him how the TSA let him in with the hammer...

He said he was a builder working in Oakland...with the tools of his trade...

...and that on his walk to the bus station he passes several houses with angry dogs....and that he would use the hammer on a dog if attacked.

My opinion is to always carry a sheet rock hammer.

Available at Home Depo for a few bucks...

(you can hollow grind the blade razor sharp,

After all...you never know when you will meet a piece of sheet rock that needs an attitude adjustment.

Well, I’m thinking its time we ban hammers...
