Town where Chris Lane died buys up guns
skynews.com.au ^ | August 23, 2013

Posted on 08/23/2013 10:18:33 AM PDT by Tailgunner Joe

Fearful residents in the Oklahoma city where Australian Chris Lane was gunned down are buying up handguns to protect themselves.

One of Duncan's most popular gun shops, Danny's Gun Pawn, is reporting a rise in sales of handguns.

Top of the shopping list is the Ruger LCP, a US-made, ultra-light .38 calibre pistol that can be carried in a purse or concealed on the body.

'Oh yeah,' Elaine, a spokeswoman at the shop who did not want to give her surname, replied on Thursday when asked if there had been a rise in sales since Mr Lane's death a week ago.

'Mostly handguns. It is hunting season coming up, but I'm not selling any hunting guns.

'Everyone is looking for concealed carry.'

Despite Duncan police chief Danny Ford denying gangs may have influenced the three boys - James Edwards, 15, Chancey Luna, 16, and Michael Jones, 17 - to randomly target Mr Lane and shoot him in the back as he jogged along a Duncan road, locals disagree.

They told AAP gangs are infiltrating the city and recruiting their youth.

James Johnson, the father of 17-year-old Chris Johnson who police believe was the next target of the trio, told Fairfax Media Edwards, Luna and Jones were trying to recruit his son into a gang.

The three teens were arrested in a car outside Johnson's home four hours after Mr Lane was killed.

A shotgun was allegedly found under a spare tyre in the car's boot.

Gun advocates in the US say guns are not the problem.

'Everyone is screaming gun control, but that's not going to change anything,' Elaine, who described herself as being 'heartbroken' over Mr Lane's death, said.

'Guns are already under control.

Well, that is one take on it. The other is, it’s baseball season, or perhaps baseball player season, in some people’s minds.

Journos never fail to screw up caliber designations, because they can't tell .38 from .380.

That’s journalist moron-speak for .380 ACP. If you want a .38, get the LCR(evolver).

The LCP is in fact chambered in caliber .380, also known as 9mm Kurtz ("short") or 9mm Browning.

But what would anybody in media in Australia know about guns?

What don't you like about the trigger. I have one, but I haven't put a lot of rounds through it. Definitely an up close and personal weapon. At least, I lacked any kind of accuracy out past a few yards with it. But, I didn't notice any issues with the trigger.

Race relations are certainly getting worse, and I'm fairly certain that feral black kids think they have a free hand at killing whites because we have a black president.

But Obozo had plenty of help with destroying race relations. Congress, the media, the welfare state set up this cascade of idiocy and hate, Obozo is the figurehead, the current leader of the charge.

If I knew how to photoshop, I'd take the famous painting of Washington crossing the Delaware, insert Obama and other race baiters and call it Obama Crossing the River of Hate.

I don’t know that it is a terrible trigger as much as it is a looooong trigger pull which is supposed to be a safety feature. I find it just makes shooting uncomfortable but it seems to be a good idea on a pocket gun with no safety.

Many blacks can’t legally buy a gun due to prior convictions. Any black going into a gun store and able to buy should be treated as any other gun customer.

Let me go “Full Gun Nut” and suggest each customer be asked if they would join the NRA and two other pro-gun groups. After all, there is safety in numbers.

;-)

Nemine target “acquisition”-—for personal defense purposes the piece had better be pointing where you are looking. If it doesn’t fit your hand well enough to do that without aiming then you need to check out some different frames. Sometimes it takes a little effort to find a handgun that follows your eye-—but it’s like picking your teeth. You shouldn’t need a mirror to get the tooth pick in your mouth-—you just know where it is. And remember: if the target is far away enough to require aiming then taking the shot is no longer “self defense”.

I prize my .38 LCR; favorite carry gun. Learned about it several years ago while we were gun shopping for my wife. She chose it over the Ladysmith. Liked it so much I went back and bought one for myself. No one would ever know you’re carrying unless you chose to let them know.

The Ruger LCP is a .380 — 9mm short — semi-automatic pocket pistol. S&W bodyguard is a better weapon, as is the Taurus .380. Taurus has the best trigger; S&W has a built in laser.
