Governor Quinn (IL) signs new gun law, crime victims hardest hit
Legal Insurrection ^ | 8-23-2013 | Fuzzy Slippers

Actually, this law wasn’t intended to punish crime victims, that’s the result of an ideology that demonizes legal gun owners–even to the point that they are considered more dangerous than violent sexual predators with known criminal records:

On Sunday, Governor Pat Quinn signed Illinois House Bill 1189, a law that will, among other things, impose requirements–on pain of criminal charges–on victims of crime. If your gun is stolen, and you fail to promptly notify the police, you are now the criminal.

Oh, by the way–confused by the initial description on the Illinois General Assembly website–that the bill “amends the Sex Offender Registration Act”? That’s what the bill would have done, before being amended to reflect Chicago-area Democrats’ view that gun owning crime victims pose a greater danger to the public than sex offenders do.

We’re no stranger to this concept that Second Amendment-supporting, legal gun owners are somehow the problem with society.

Isn’t this twisted logic the rationale behind the latest push against “stand your ground” laws? You shouldn’t be able to stand your ground if you are assaulted, suffer a home invasion, or are the victim of any other violent crime. The alternative is to be victimized, possibly murdered. Anything but actually defending yourself, your loved ones, or your property.

Isn’t this the sort of thinking that prompted leftists to urge college students to get “rape whistles” rather than legally-owned guns or training in self-defense? And isn’t this twisted logic that it’s better to be a victim of a violent crime than someone who can legally use whatever force necessary to save oneself behind the laughable notion that women should “pee themselves” in order to discourage rapists?

After all, goes the ”thinking,” it’s best to just arm yourself with some scissors when a gun-wielding maniac starts firing off rounds at a crowd than actually allowing anyone the means to shoot back, so the fact that Illinois is punishing gun owners for the “crime” of being the victim of a crime is really no surprise.

Like Kaliforniastan - only worse. Too scared to go after the street gangs because that’d be racist since the majority of shootings in Chi-Congo are done by blacks.

What about the people who have 100 or 200 or more guns? They are supposed to check each one every day?

This is clearly Unconstitutional.

has too many kids.

Too scared? The Chicago pols own the gangs and use them to terrorize their constituents into voting them back into power year after year. Why do you think there are only two or three illegal firearms arrests / convictions each year? You really think they were the only guys illegally carrying guns in Chicago? In Illinois the only guys that go to jail are the ones that cross the mob.

The only reason Chicago wasn’t rated the most corrupt city in the U.S. is because they put the squeeze on the panel.

Now just fuggedaboutit.

As I said on this site so many times. Liberals deliberately leave guns in the hands of violent criminals, while trying to take them from honest, non-violent citizens.
And I’m right.

onfused by the initial description on the Illinois General Assembly website–that the bill “amends the Sex Offender Registration Act”?

Tennessee has a constitutional amendment preventing that crap. All bills must have a descriptive title and all sections of that bill must be associated with that descriptive title.

"If your gun is stolen, and you fail to promptly notify the police, you are now the criminal."

So ... if I have my gun in an upstairs drawer, and I don't necesarilly look in that drawer all the time, and a crime is committed, and I decide to look in my drawer a couple of days later and THEN I report it ... maybe three or more days later ... maybe a week .... Am I now a criminal ?

You're entirely correct, infool7, but there's more to it: Chicago's so-called "youth" gangs comprise the distribution networks for the narcotics industry. One [fill in the blank] lot of money flows from the gangs to Chicago Democratic [sic] party politicians.

Connecticut has the model law, they at least allow you 72 hours to check your gun is still there before SWAT arrives. That’s the last I knew.

Solution: Look for private sales in Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Iowa, Missouri, and Kentucky, buy there for cash, and make sure there’s no record of the sale. This, of course, is ILLEGAL under Federal law. However, it does result in a clean gun. Once again, unconstitutional lawlessness encourages more lawlessness.

You’ve got it. Chicago gun control is there primarily to help the criminals. The pols who pass is are, themselves, mostly criminals. Chicago’s black gangs were and are some of Rev. JJ’s strongest supporters.

It's actually a realistic scenario. It's been a while since I've actually inventoried my guns. It's possible that one could be lifted and I wouldn't notice for months.
