US military reportedly updates list of potential targets in Syria as pressure mounts on Obama

The Pentagon has updated the list of possible targets in Syria should US President Barack Obama decide to intervene militarily in the country, CNN reported on Friday, citing a US Defense Department official.

The report came as pressure mounts on Obama to take action against the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad in the wake of allegations that he killed more than a 1,000 people in chemical weapons attacks on Wednesday.

The US defense official told CNN that target lists for air strikes in Syria had been updated, and plans for using cruise missiles capable of targeting Syria without entering the country's airspace had also been included.

The official stated that the US had made no decision to act in Syria, but rather the targets were updated "to give the president a current and comprehensive range of choices."

Assad's army continues to move forces and equipment making flexible planning a necessity, the official told CNN.

The updated list includes mobile targets that would disrupt Assad's ability to conduct further chemical weapons attacks.

Obama and his national security team had a four hour Oval Office meeting on military options Friday, focusing on cruise missile targets, but no decisions were taken.

The top Democrat on the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee urged Obama on Friday to order air strikes against Assad's government after the apparent chemical attacks.

“New War”. I guess he doesn’t understand that it’s all part of
the same war.

If a couple conservative politicians went over there and “looked” for 5 minutes, they’d notice those chemical weapons are complete horsecrap. But we’re actually dealing with Zippy/Jarrett/Powers.

They will not rest until they create an AQ outpost out of Syria.

Well, they had a temporary setback getting armed and going back over to screw up Cairo again.

"Pressure" - by who? I don't know a single American who believes in or aupports US intervention in Syria. Especially after Benghazi and "arab spring".

So where is this "pressure" on Nobama coming from?

The truth is that support for Iran in Syria and elsewhere must be shut down, and it doesn’t matter who pretends to be the boss of the action. Nearly everyone should know that by now.

Wonder how many of those potential targets are Christian churches.... Obama could murder every Christian in Syria and the MSM wouldn’t report a thing.

I’m going to stay out on the limb I went out on earlier and still go with the Syrian rebels are the ones who used the gas (involuntary martyrs action). One of the rebels stated on TV: “This wouldn’t have happened if Obama would have sent the weapons he promised two months ago”. Think about that statement for a few minutes and consider that the last gas attack was by rebels and that the rebels are losing badly and this type action can only help because the MSM and others “want to believe” regardless of facts. That said, I’m not a fan of Assad but I’m less of a fan of the MB or AQ.

Agree. The United States is behind the chemical attack on Syria. Sad, but true.

The big question in this mess is how does Russia react. Nobody knows.

There is a lot more going on than any of us realize.

Yep. He drew his “line in the sand” over chemical weapons and now has to act, or is compelled to act, unless he wants to look exactly like the incompetent, impotent doofus everybody in the world knows him to be.

He's ignored his "line in the sand" twice before.

Why stand firm now? Even if John McCain is yapping and chewing on your shoes...???

Why would this Rat urged such a thing when it is not known for sure Assad ordered such a thing? Couldn't this be a planned event the rebels conjured up?

Russia will respond. We can count on that. Putin has already said they would.

And, unlike some others, his word is good.

With a majority of America looking to impeach maybe the globalists think its time to try to jail a sitting pres.thereby setting a hague trumps nationalism precedent.

Crazy stuff. ....

I don’t think so. They buried the bodies in mass graves.
