Full title: "Putin Responds To Syria Escalation: May "Reinforce Naval Grouping In Mediterranean" Following US Buildup" ________
Newton's third law strikes again.
Yesterday, when describing the latest US developments in the Syrian "liberation" and "WMD elimination" we pointed out that the "use of war as a culmination point to end a depression is nothing new. Just look at the first Great Depression. And just like then, the only cost to perpetuate the myth of the Keynesian and monetarist religion and the pillaged wealth of the 0.01% status quo elite, will be a few hundred thousand innocent men, women and children. Or, as they are known in the Beltway, collateral damage. That is, unless, Putin decides to retaliate."
Moments ago Interfax reported that Russia is starting to pre-emptively, for now, retaliate.
(Via tweet from interfax news: Russia may reinforce naval grouping in Mediterranean in response to U.S. buildup - expert http://bit.ly/18aZtMy #Russia #interfax #news)
More from Interfax:
Russia can increase its military presence in the Mediterranean in the case of the possible enlargement of the U.S. naval grouping in the region in the event of the aggravation of the situation in Syria, President of the Academy of Geopolitical Problems Leonid Ivashov believes.
Russia can increase its naval grouping in the Mediterranean as a reply measure. I think that nothing else remains to prevent the development of the factor of aggression, he said to Interfax-AVN on Saturday commenting on media reports of the possible increase in U.S. naval presence in the Mediterranean.
In his opinion, Russia should point out to the world the most crying violations of the UN Charter concerning Egypt and especially Syria.
We should be speaking more strongly of noninterference in the internal affairs of Syria, Ivashov said.
He said that deliveries of Russian defense systems to the Syrian armed forces could become a lever of influencing the United States and of averting the threat of an attack on Syria.
Will Obama's misreading of the "New Normal" geopolitical balance of power, in which America is rapidly relegating itself from global superpower status and in which Putin most certainly does not see himself as inferior to the US, yet in which there is no actual game theoretical winner if everyone defects (but lots and lots of losers, except for the Fed) force America into a milltary confrontation from which there is no easy and simple way out?
We will find out over the next several days.
It is not good....but, watch zero fold like a cheap tent....
We have a new gay army though. Bullets will just bounce off them.
Obama will send Chelsea Manning to fight them. Putin is terrified.
A majority constituency against ME involvement may be emerging. Conservatives see no strategic reason for involvement because both Muslim sides suck and hate us, and are sick of the Dem’s misuse of the military and politicization of it. Peaceniks are never in favor of a war. And, as much as Dems support the Administration, most of them are against anything that’s more than a minor action with no risk of loss. Obama may be one of them—he’s a relentless agitator, but he doesn’t impress me as brave in the face of possible hardship. He doesn’t appear to impress Putin, either.
Our politicians and media assuming that if chemical weapons were used it was Assad is stupid and dangerous.
Why would Israel cause mischief here? The rebels, imo, would pose much more of a threat to Israel if they came to power in Syria.
....”Russia can increase its military presence in the Mediterranean in the case of the possible enlargement of the U.S. naval grouping in the region in the event of the aggravation of the situation in Syria,”.....
Putin has been increasing his naval in the Med. the whole time Obozo’s been vacationing, golfing and making speeches about nothing....
He started that long ago...because he knew he could without any interference from Obama....
Obama is playing with Putin. The UN is going to pounce on Obama for threatening Russia. Obama is making a fool of himself.
Listen to an expert on chemical weaponry recently who commented on what might or not be the chemicals used in Syria of late.... He said the effects on the people was standard for thousands of agents which can be used...including industrial types used in industries...to weaponized weapons delivering the chemicals. Apparently "How" it was delivered is a major factor in determining what it is...but he did not think it was sarin....and why they need to be on the ground to determine this.
The UN has already pounced on Obama and shown their support to Russia and China when he tried to use strong verbaige in getting the Security council to act.....they stripped everything Obama wanted out of their final document.....which soon after Obama announced he’d be sending into Syria CIA Reps etc.
Obama has himself behind a rock and hard place...no matter what he does or doesn’t do he’s toast in the eyes of the world leaders.....
Not to forget he’s a bully so he’ll not take this lying down for long....
Serious business now between Putin and Obama.....not games anymore.....
Meanwhile, Obama is eating fried chicken at Martha’s and speaking to his most gullible constituency, the college age Sandra Flukes.
Putin will win this round, and rightly so. As far as I’m aware, the Syrian rebels have been slaughtering Christians in Syria, and they deserve everything they get from Assad.
Whatever happens, I hope Barry fails.
Can’t blame Putin one bit. The Russians have their port there, along with their longstanding alliance with Assad. And here comes Obama, our worthless faggot of a leader, with his newly-minted homo-military, coming along to support his al-Qaeda/jihadist buddies. His same buddies that have been slaughtering Christians left and right.
It’s such a Bizarro World we live in now. America, once the beacon of freedom and liberty to the world, but now a depraved cesspool of progressivism, which readily sides with evil.
"Israeli mischief". But of course. The global conflagration that has had the Muslim world engulfed in sectarian violence ever since Satan first enlisted Muhammad as his messenger has always been (about) 'Israeli mischief' [sic].
Please see comment #18.
Apply tag line and retire to safe place.
Deja vu all over again. I was around when Khrushchev bullied another President he’d sized-up as weak. One Cuban Missile Crisis is enough for a lifetime!
It’s BUNKER time

Actually, as far as wars go, I’m quite happy with the status quo. Assad is kept off the world stage of mischief making, along with Hezbullah and Hamas, and Iran, Assad’s buddy, has lost a reliable ally due to Assad having to fight his own fights right now; he has his hands full. Meanwhile, there is less focus by the EU and the US on bullying Israel, with the Middle East in turmoil, and the more the Arab countries fight each other, the less they pick on Israel. And Israel won’t have to make any “peace” deals as long as the Middle East is destabilized, in spite of Obama/Kerry’s continuing bullying of Israel.
Plus the more the bad guy Muzzies bump each other off, the better. What’s not to like? As to Putin, I’m on his side both on gay propagandizing, Syria, and Egypt. Funny, Putin is of late on the side of traditionalists versus Obama and the progressives on the social issues, and also on some foreign policy issues as well. Everything is an upside down cake of late.
Well that’s about the only thing Obama hasn’t started yet. WWIII.
Problem is, Russia is much more prepared now and may be provoked to target the launch platforms wherever, and bases in Turkey. As a Syrian ally they have the right to do this.
If so, likely both Russia and the US will lose capital assets. This is extremely serious.
Legally, the US has no authority to use any force whatsoever inside Syria, and will never be granted that authority as both Russia and China will veto in the UN Security Council.
This could draw other nations into hostilities if they allow support of US military assets.
Well, Obama should fold like a cheap tent. In fact, he shouldn't have made that idiotic line-in-the-sand comment in the first place.
The US has no dog in this fight. Let Turkey or France sort it out.
This can’t work out well. I feel a whole bunch of people may well die—But, if Russians lose people—they will never give up until they win. Obama—will blink! But still not a wise move on the part of ‘The One’.
Kudos to you. You have my admiration for saying it like no one else has ventured to say.
The ending credits of this movie are playing in my home right now. What a coincidence!
another purported response from Putin about the insanity of US (and western) “policy” and a darn good read
Emphasis on “purported.”
Interesting read but absent confirmation its just a rumor. The bear is not our friend and they play the propaganda game very, very well.
I just wish the GOP said this to Obama
oh wait Juan McPain is the “GOP”
We blow up a Syrian aspirin factory.
The Russians aiding Assad sink two of our ships.....
Obama orders the U.S. to skip the Olympics.....(sigh)
>>>Why would Israel cause mischief here? The rebels, imo, would pose much more of a threat to Israel if they came to power in Syria.<<<
To me it seems like some people in Israel’s administration aren’t better than neocons and Obama.
They might think that strong secular Syria is a potential threat while destabilized islamist Syria is easier to handle which is a stupid assumption. They might be traitors as well.
Your post pretty much wraps it up very well....can’t add a thing...you hit the high points on all that matters.
Wonder if anyone is fielding the BrahMos besides the IDF. A carrier group is pretty, but an estimated strategic engagement was rumoured to be 17 minutes mean duration twenty-five years ago. The capability may be within reach of a well armed group if once again no one is paying attention.
Russia is indeed fielding the P-800 Yakhont Cruise Missile, a slightly shorter range, faster accelerating BrahMos sister.
They are currently deployed in Russian control, and some reports of Syrian control.
They have multiple simultaneous launch capability acquiring specific separate targets, and I wouldn't want 10 of 'em closing on a carrier group at once.
China will move in the East Asian seas if they see the US bogged down.
