Former Secretary of State Colin Powell says the jury verdict that freed the killer of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin was "questionable." But he isn't sure it will have staying power in the public consciousness.
Speaking on CBS's Face the Nation, Powell said cases like Martin's "blaze across the midnight sky" and are forgotten.

I never stated what his level of expertise was. Surely he had one at some time, as everyone does. I did not concede it was as a four star either. Maybe he’s just expert at being black and using his race to get promoted.

Powell should have been kicked out of the Army a long time ago for having written a phony after-action report to the commanding general of Americal Division on the massacre at My Lai.
His very vocal reticence about finishing the job just encouraged other wannabe Husseins to continue inflicting on the world unnecessary deaths, destruction, and mayhem.
That is also why this has staying power. The race hustlers were beaten, failed at their game. They don't like that. They are going to keep pushing to try to recover some semblance of credibility. The rest of us are not soon going to forget it either. People's reaction to the case and verdict makes for a wonderful litmus test on where someone stands on the emotional reaction vs facts continuum. I know i learned a thing or two about a couple of people, towards both sides.

Why does Colin Powell deserve to be quoted any more than the drunk passed out in the gutter? I believe than the drunk has more credibility. Powell owes his entire career to Affirmative Action. At least he knows how to game the system - I’ll give him that much.
