Fresh sectarian violence struck northwestern Myanmar early Sunday when a 1,000-strong Buddhist mob burned down dozens of Islamic homes and shops following rumors that a young woman had been sexually assaulted by a Muslim man, police said. There were no reports of injuries.

Keep up the good work. Eliminate them one rag-head at a time.

OTOH, the history of Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand and Burma is not exactly congruent with Buddhists being incapable of violence.

Homes and shops? Try burning down a mosque and THEN see what happens!

Only a religion of hate...filled with tribal cavemen and led by low IQ “holy” men could do that.

Oh, forgot......

Buddhists know how to deal with Muslims. Sorry...but you can’t “turn the other cheek” if your enemy has chopped off your head.

Buddhists want peace. And they’re willing to take action to achieve it.

The Muslims have been working at that for quite a while.

""There is a mosque in almost every village in our township and we live a peaceful co-existence," he said as he headed to the scene, adding that at least one mosque was burned down in the violence."

That's a problem. A base for the blood cult in almost every village. The Muslims cannot live in peace with non-Muslims. Their belief system is one of conquest, subjugation and death. All others need to recognize this and act on this knowledge.

More than that. "Northwestern Myanmar" borders Bangladesh. They are getting muslims illegally immigrating from Bangladesh, and then blending into the existing Muslim communities. Something like the US's issue with Hispanics, only potentially deadlier.

The Buddhists realize they must deal with the situation before it becomes too big to control.

True.

The word "Islam" is usually translated as "submission," other than by idiots who think it means "peace," or say they do, anyway.

Ideologically, though perhaps not etymologically, I suggest it should more accurately be translated as "subjugation," or possibly "domination."

It takes a whole lot to get peacful Buddhists this mad. Still, when angered they can be effective! the Whababist Islamic nut cases must be put down like Rabid dogs. Good to see Buddhists doing to them what they have been doing to others for a change.

"Northwestern Myanmar" borders Bangladesh.

Only a very short piece, probably <100 miles. Most of the NW border is with India.

"How can we send matches to the Buddhists?"

A "Matches for Buddha " program!

Islam is at war with everybody else.

The Buddhas are fighting back for their best interests of safety and right to protect their faith.

Hate war but when it is thrown at you, you had better be ready to respond and respond wisely. Looks to me like a good way to respond to your sworn enemies.

Too bad Obama isn't a Buddhist instead of an Islamicist warrior.

Some research into the way some countries that are majority Buddhists treat people of other religions might yield some surprises for you. Sri Lanka and Bhutan come to mind pretty quickly. It’s not just retaliation against Muslims. Violence against Christians goes unreported in our media, but it’s a part of the Christian’s lives there. I’m not defending Muslims at all. I’m just saying that Buddhists burning homes and shops doesn’t surprise me. I know Buddhists who would never do such things, of course. But, it doesn’t take much research to find out that intolerance of other religions is a prominent feature of governments in countries that are majority Buddhist.
