I guess where I'd want to add a footnote, is I wouldn't even associate the honorable name "Evangelical" with people who would reject Copts, Catholics or Orthodox as Christians. I think those who are so preemptively repellent are a distinct minority, even here in FReeperville.

And we have many Evangelical friends here.

Haven't had much time to think of a suitable new label. Plenty of snarky ones pop up in my mischievous brain, but no need to add to the total amount of snark in the Universe.

How about "the More Bumptious Brethren"? I don't think anyone takes serious offense at "bumptious". Hmm. The MBB's.

Well, I suppose that is a valid point. People who claim practicing Orthodox and Catholics "ain't Christians" are a very small but unfortunately very vocal minority of evangelicals. It's unfair to paint of all of them like that, just as its ridiculous to compare all Baptists to the lunatics at Westboro Baptist Church, or all Catholics to Obama's pal, "Father" Pfleger of St. Sabina's.

Nevertheless, I think its disgusting that some American Christians would reject one of the ancient forms of Christianity as "Christian", simply because they're not "born again" protestant fundamentalists. Truly an example of people eating their own.
