President 'Disingenuous' When He Says GOP Has No Alternative to Obamacare

(CNSNews.com) - President Barack Obama is being "disingenuous" when he says Republicans have no alternative to Obamacare, says Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), a man with a plan of his own. "The president knows that there are other alternatives out there, alternatives that put patients and families and doctors in charge, not Washington, D.C.," Price told Fox News's Neil Cavuto on Wednesday.

"Our proposal, H.R. 2300, is comprehensive legislation that would get folks covered with insurance that they want to buy for themselves, not that the government forces them to buy; solves insurance challenges, like portability and preexisting (conditions); and saves hundreds of billions of dollars, does all of that without raising your taxes a penny and doesn't put Washington in charge of a thing.

"There are wonderful, positive alternatives. To have the president continue to say that (there are no alternatives) is just not true, and he knows it's disingenuous when he says it."

Price re-introduced his legislation -- The Empowering Patients First Act -- on June 6. (He previously sponsored the Empowering Patients First Act in the 111th and 112th Congresses as H.R. 3400 and H.R. 3000, respectively.)

Among other things, H.R. 2300 would repeal the Affordable Care Act and replace it with a plan that includes tax incentives for maintaining health insurance coverage (no individual mandate).

Price's plan would allow the purchase of health insurance with pre-tax dollars; it would provide grants to each state to provide coverage through a high-risk pool; it would allow small business owners to band together across state lines to purchase health coverage for their families and employees at a lower cost; and it would allow insurers licensed to sell policies in one state to offer them to residents of any other state. It also proposes to lower costs through malpractice reform...

“Disingenuous” is about the mildest word that can be used, with respect to this matter.

Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) — If the only alternative is to allow a government shutdown, Price said, “I’m there.” In fact, he is one of 138 co-sponsors of pending House legislation to defund Obamacare.

This guys plan sounds almost as bad as Obamacare!

The only plan the Republicans need to it repeal Obamacare.

No, plan that forces insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions is acceptable.

Well my only concern about this is, as a non-veteran I do not have the government waiting to take over my healthcare until a certain age.

With employment, constantly getting worse.

This is the reason I am concerned with this issue.

For me, I want a GOP plan. One that is real, and one that offers an alternative.

I’m not on the government dole. In fact I’ve never been on the government dole.

But our current system does not seem safe.

We need (on the GOP side) to be thinking of presenting something for people like me.

Thanks.

That sounds like the story of the Southern girl, taught at finishing school to say:
“Isn’t that nice?” instead of something vulgar like “f*** you!”.

Yeah, obammy’s not a lying sack of shite: He’s disingenuous.

The “Free Market” is the only possible conservative alternative. “Leave Me Alone!” 10th Amendment Atlas Shrugged 1984. It is hard to budget when your liabilities are open ended.

Well I don’t know about the RINO party, but the alternative to Obamacommiecare is the free market which the fascists refuse to allow. Remember how high car insurance was? One accident and you’re paying $5000 a year? Now they beg you to name your own price. They BEG for your business! How many Geico commercials do we hear every day? Same with phones, I remember clear as day getting killed with my phone bill in the 80s, every freakin’ month it was getting turned off for non-payment, now it’s $30-$40 bucks a month unlimited calls AND texting. If the fascists controlled that like they control healthcare we’d be paying $5000 a month for cellphones.

I'm waiting for Republicans for the right comeback to Obama's comments. Republicans have proposed alternatives to ObamaCare. That worries me. Where is a unified message from Republicans that the government should have ZERO involvement in healthcare? Being a mean-spirited conservative I fully support a complete exit from ObamaCare and Medicaid - cold turkey. Medicare is a different story, but eventually Medicare as a program must be privatized.

There is a deep canyon called the Grand Canyon. It's beautiful and a tremendous recreational attraction. It is literally a wonder of the world.

People can fly over it. People can hike down into it and up the other side. People can raft down it. There are roads on both sides of it to the edge where parks have been set up. Anyone can drive around in their car to get to either or both sides.

Someone comes along, claiming that "Everyone has the right to see the Grand Canyon from above."

They propose building bridge over it with numerous pull outs so people can see the canyon from above. The initial estimate is $3 Billion dollars to build the bridge. They propose an act of congress, but do not divulge any of the details and it gets passed.

It becomes obvious that it is a boondoggle and will be far more expensive than they stated. Renderings show that it will ruin the experience of others coming to see the canyon.

As time goes on, and the costs spiral out of control, pretty much everyone turns against it.

That is, everyone except some Senators, some congressional representatives, the specific contractors who would profit immensely from the job of building it (and who are throwing around a lot of special perqs through their lobbyists), several PAC set up to support the project, and the President of the United States and his administration.

When it becomes obvious that the project cannot be budgeted for because it's price has risen to over $12 billion dollars, and that it is a disaster, the President digs in his heals and begins deriding and chastising all of those against it.

And guess what one of his principle arguments becomes?

"Well, the people against this wonderful project do not have an alternative plan."

“disengenuous” is too long and fancy of a word
for many of his voters to understand

we need to reach his voters

we should use plain language, simple easy words
like “he lied”

(and I do NOT want to hear how disrespectful that is, it means the same damned thing... and besides, do you remember the biggest and most effective lie of all, “Bush Lied, People Died?” Let’s just tell it like it is and see what happens. Maybe some of his voters might actually listen if we speak to them directly about things that are important to them (and drop all these pretentious super-sized words like “disengenuous”)

The time for calling Obama "disingenuous" is long over with.

Someone prominent needs to call him a "lying bastard", the country needs to hear those words and the hell with MSM and RAT firestorm it creates.

We ain't playing for *funzes* anymore, we're playing for the country, mincing words and being politically correct ain't going to get it.

If the only alternative is to allow a government shutdown

Everytime the gov shuts down, it turns out better for the country.

And when the dems blame it on the republicans (it's there fault when they don't roll over in fear) it is really the dems fault for not approving Conservative CONSTITUTIONAL legislation. Glad to see so many Congress members not shaking in their boots like Boehner Graham etc.

When they find out that Obama is gonna take their depends away, they may start thinking....all wee wee'd up...
