Dispatch From The Future: Uber To Purchase 2,500 Driverless Cars From Google
July 25, 2023 As part of its second-quarter earnings announcement today, local transportation and delivery giant Uber announced its biggest bet on autonomous vehicles yet, saying it would purchase 2,500 driverless cars from Google. In addition, the two companies have agreed to a deal in which Uber will share data from its local transportation services with Google, which will use it to further improve its own autonomous car-routing algorithms.
Hey, I was supposed to get a flying car. When I was a kid nobody said anything about being an algorithm serf.
If I find one I’m gonna get in front of it and slam on the breaks real hard for that little squirrel I thought I saw and then call an ambulance and lawyer from my cab, first thing.
breaks = brakes
Someone needs to explain to me how such a vehicle operating on the open roads can be insured....
What kind of structure will the insurance companies place on them?
Who do I sue when one of them hits me & I am NOT in the wrong?
This is a judicial nightmare, IMO.
Bet it will stop a fair distance from your back bumper.
And it will get rear-ended by the car behind it.
Maybe it will.
But the computer controlled car will make hundreds of calculations during the whole process to see if it can avoid either and both car crashes.
in the future it will be easier to get rid of pesky journalists by driving them into each other...
and no more crowded cattle cars on the way to the re education camps... just google search them and guide them in...
