Chris Christie is rolling to re-election — and building big momentum for a 2016 White House run
The Washington Times ^ | 28 August 2013 | Seth McLaughlin

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has undergone lap-band surgery, vetoed gun control bills and banned anti-gay conversion therapies for minors — all while touting his ability to push conservative principles in a blue state.

With three months to go before he faces voters in his quest for another term as governor, the rotund Republican looks poised to run away with a double-digit victory that could build momentum for a 2016 presidential bid.

“It is vital for Gov. Christie to run up a big margin in order to make his story work,” said Charlie Gerow, an American Conservative Union member and CEO of Pennsylvania-based Quantum Communications. “Without a big margin, the story is far less powerful. But if he is successful, the story for Chris Christie is, ‘I am a Republican that not only can win in a very blue state, but I am able to win convincingly and handily in a very blue state.’”

New Jersey last went for a Republican presidential candidate in 1988. Since then, no Republican has won 50 percent of the vote in a statewide election, not even Mr. Christie, who was elected governor in 2009 with 49 percent of the vote.

“If he has big numbers, Republican leaders from around the country will have to look and say, ‘What he does works electorally,’” Mr. Gerow said.

Others say Mr. Christie doesn’t even have to win big; simply winning is good enough.

A rolling Christie with momentum will be practically unstoppable.

Might take a frontend loader.

NO MORE VOTES FOR RINO’S MEANS NO MORE VOTES FOR RINO’S IN ANY ELECTION.

THAT’S WHERE I STAND.

(over 90 percent of the Republicans we elect are RINO’s like Christie.

Vote against him New Jersey.

Yeah, we need a president who can be reduced to tears by the likes of Bruce Springsteen. Right.

when the general election comes around, you vote against any democrat any day of the week, no matter what....period....

Yeah, the GOP-E sure did rally behind Tea Party candidates in 2010 that beat establishment candidates.

Not.

We have seen that party loyalty is a one-way street with the GOP-E.

I’ve held my nose and voted for a Republican candidate just because he wasn’t a democrat for the last time. Christie couldn’t get my vote if my life depended on it. Very few GOPer’s could, in fact.

Yep. Once again they attempt to force feed us the candidate that cannot win. Soooooooo tired of this.

The liberals have infested the GOP and simply are in a fight for control of their party. Winning is not as important to them as beating a conservative who can actually lead the party in a Reagan like fashion.

This is simply all about the dem-lites simply not wanting to get behind a socially conservative candidate. Simply put, they want control of the party and are willing to lose it all to make sure a real conservative does not win.

This may be one case where it would be better to have a Democrat win.

Christie did a smart thing with the special election for Senator. He diverted Steve Lonegan, the conservative who ran against him in the 2009 primary, and Cory Booker, the strongest Democrat challenger to him, into that race. That greatly strengthened his re-election prospects.

Get out and vote for Lonegan in October. Make calls, write letters. If you have money, give some. Do everything possible to get him elected. (We must work on getting Lonegan in the Senate and the entire GOP ticket in Virginia elected.) Then do what you can to stop RINO Christie in November.

Even if he is re-elected, diminishing his margin diminishes his Presidential chances. See Rockefeller, Nelson.

After some of the things like signing that bill to prohibit councilers to talk to children about the confusion with homosexuality, I can’t understand why he might still be a viable candidate. I would think that most people would vote against him from the get-go. At least any normal person would.

What if the choice is Christy (R) & Clinton (D)?

Who are you going to vote for? Just look at the results we got in 2012?

I. DO. NOT. WANT. TO. GO. THERE. AGAIN!

“Christie has no chance. None. Zero. Zip. Nada.”

Krispy Kristy is clearly the choice of the democrats, and more importantly the MSM, just as Romney was, and McCain was before him.

Therefore, as was true of Romney and McCain, there isn’t anything that can be done to stop him, as has already been happening all the polls will show he is neck and neck with Clinton.
