Skip to comments. If You Send Your Kid to Private School, You Are a Bad Person
Posted on 08/29/2013 10:10:51 AM PDT by Belteshazzar
You are a bad person if you send your children to private school. Not bad like murderer badbut bad like ruining-one-of-our-nations-most-essential-institutions-in-order-to-get-whats-best-for-your-kid bad. So, pretty bad.
I am not an education policy wonk: Im just judgmental. But it seems to me that if every single parent sent every single child to public school, public schools would improve. This would not happen immediately. It could take generations. Your children and grandchildren might get mediocre educations in the meantime, but it will be worth it, for the eventual common good. (Yes, rich people might cluster. But rich people will always find a way to game the system: That shouldnt be an argument against an all-in approach to public education any more than it is a case against single-payer health care.)

Jonathan Swift could have written this article, were he alive today, and not done a better job of parody than this Benedikt person has executed without any intention of self-parody.
I forget..is it Slate or is it Salon... which publishes from a mental institution?
What an idiot. My job as a parent is to be sure that my child receives the BEST education possible. Since so many public schools are swamps filled with thugs and union organizers I can understand why a parent would chose a different option
This is where I stopped. Please somebody tell me that this is satire? At Slate? Should I read on or should this have had a barf alert? What gives?
Public Schools generally suck because their priorities suck.
1-Maximize Union Dues
2-Indoctrinate students with Socialist, anti-Constitutional, Enviro-whacko, and morally vacuous agenda.
3-Minimize foundation in Science, Math, Physics, Chemistry, History (unadultrated), reading, or writing, or they might not become wards of the state.
OK, then the same can apply to cars too, Maybe we should force all those rich jerks driving BMWs to be forced to drive Chevy Volts... You know cause that will improve the volt, also instead of living in good part of town, why don’t we force move all the rich liberals into the more racially diverse neighborhoods in the crime laden inner cities...
You know I would rather enjoy that last one...
Liberals have a peculiar aversion to logic.
why not just force people to buy lottery tickets? those fund education too.

It is largely because public schools are run by people who “think” like Allison Benedikt that they so often fall short of providing a good education.
I guess it takes balls for a liberal MSM rag to come out and say Obama and Mooch are bad people.
Does she not realize even people that send their kids to private skewls are forced to pay taxes to finance the public schools.
My number one job as a parent is to do everything within my power to help my child get to Heaven. Anything under my control that detracts from that primary directive is bad.
Public schools are child abuse. Sorry, no, my kids are not going there.
Even private schools are immersed in the pop culture and peer pressure can destroy anything positive parents try to instill in their children.
That’s why we homeschool.
If there is nothing but public schools (no private schools or homeschooling), the public schools will be the best schools available. Ain’t Communism grand?
For Socialists choice is only good if one kills ones baby or is promiscuous.
We need to indoctrinate your kids!
