British MPs have voted against possible military action against Syria to deter the use of chemical weapons.

David Cameron said it was clear the British Parliament does not want action and "I will act accordingly".

The government motion was defeated 285 to 272, a majority of 13 votes.

The only other face-saving measure would be a vote in Congress so Congress can make the decision for him

Bingo. They (and his "coalition" backing out) are going to give him the perfect excuse to do nothing. And what other countries press do isn't a big deal.
Our press will be the same bunch of sycophants they have always been. Do you really think they are going to give him the Republican treatment? You think Chris Matthews and the rest are going to do anything but gush about his intelligence, wisdom, and leadership?
Bill Clinton bombed the crap out of Serbia on the weekend he was going to be impeached and all the press could do was gush "Wow, what an amazing coincidence that this country needing bombing on the same weekend the first black president was facing impeachment". And he wasn't even really black.

What evidence is there that Assad is involved?

I think you may have misunderstood me. I'm not saying whether Obama should or even shouldn't bomb. I'm saying the American press has his back covered no matter what.
I guess I'm tired or reading on FR where people think whatever Obama is doing will cost him support. Never underestimate the stupidity of his supporters especially the press.
For the record I'm against getting involved. Neither side is worth supporting.

It would be interesting to see a breakdown to the UK parliament by party: how many Conservative, Labour, and Lib Dem MPs voted to take action in Syria?

There is doubt Assad was behind the chemical attack.

I can find the results of the vote (called a “division”) but it’s not broken down by party

http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/cm201314/cmhansrd/cm130829/debtext/130829-0004.htm#13082928001473

Division # 70.

I don’t know if there are any third party websites out there with that information.

I tell you I like the US House website a lot better. ;)

I found a list of the Tories and Lib dems that voted no. I am assuming all the opposition MPs that were present voted no.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23894152

They literally “divide” ie go to opposite sides of the chamber to vote.

2 people voted on both the aye and nay sides which apparently is how they vote “present” over there. That would have been too much work for Barack Obama in the Illinois Senate.

Yep. And that is the real real reason Waldo Boehner does not want to have
a vote in the house. He does not want to expose the RINO’s by putting their vote on record!

Where in the world is Waldo Boehner?

Sir Francis Dashwood
I would trust Bashar al Assad more than I would trust John Kerry.

To: conservaterian
What “conservative cause” would that be defending the traitor John Kerry?

Sir Frances, I agree with you 100%. I don't trust ANYONE in the "gubmint" under the socialist muslim RAT bastard traitor 0dumb0, or his fellow RAT bastard traitors, the media & the socialist fascist democRAT party.

Likewise I support Putin head & shoulders over anyone in our regime, especially against 0dumb0. Go Putin! I would love to see Putin kick 0dumb0's skinny kenyan ass from one side of a room to the other.

Ya know this is going a little too far. Obama is our worst president ever and I can’t stand Kerry, but if you guys are going to support Putin and Assad over our own country just because we have an asshole administration then I’m going to have to look closer at the word “traitor”. I want what is right for AMERICA and though Obama certainly isn’t it I can guarantee you that Putin and Assad ain’t it either. FDR was horrible for this country with all of his socialist programs, but would you have supported Hitler and Mussolini because you didn’t like FDR? Anyone who comes out and supports Putin and Assad over our own country is doing nothing but make Conservatives look like rabid idiots.

The asshole administration of 0dumb0, Kerry, et al, is destroying our country every day. Putin is more Christian & moral & freedom loving than our own country’s administration which is becoming a communist country under 0dumb0. He & the RAT bastard democRAT party are the traitors, and Yes, I support Putin & Russia in a heartbeat over our country led by 0dumb0. You think I want to put my life on the line, or that of our military to support our country led by RAT bastard traitors like 0dumb0? I wish & pray to God that our military would rise up against the murdering, traiterous bastard 0dumb0! We need two counties, one a liberal socialist country and a conservative, patriotic country....and never allow any liberals to migrate from their hellhole country to the conservative one.

If you truly believe this then, you sir, are a traitor to our Constitution and our country. Try living in Russia for a while (I spent several months there on business btw) and see how moral and freedom loving you think Putin is.

We no longer have America, home of the brave, land of the free & one nation under God. Instead we have a RAT bastard commie muzlim pig, who is doing everything he can to destroy our country. I will never support 0dumb0 under any circumstances. He is an anti-American, and I fail to see how anyone can stand up for or support that commie muzlim pig.

You are saying that you would support & follow 0dumb0 as he plunges our country into economic & political abyss & moral decay & decadence, and sacrifices our own soldiers to satisfy his own narcissistic, demonic pettiness? 0dumb0 loves to order our troops around & sacrifice them & see them killed, like they are his own private militia. I think it's time to fight back against the real enemy of USSA Amerika, which is 0dumb0 & the socialist democRAT party. I will be damned before I put my life on the line for that RAT bastard commie muzlim pig 0dumb0.

I will take Putin over 0dumb0 any day of the week. At least Putin is an ardent nationalist and believes in his own country. Just for once in my lifetime, I wish that we could have an American president who is an ardent, conservative, patriotic, Christian leader. Instead we got the anti-American, anti-Christ, 0dumb0! It is time for the STHTF!
