Rand Paul on Syria: I can’t see sending my son to fight on the same side as al Qaeda
Washington Examiner ^ | August 30, 2013 | Charlie Spiering

Paul also explained that he had difficulty seeing any American interests in the Syrian conflict.

“I can’t see fighting to impose Sharia law in Syria,” Paul said. “I can’t see sending my son to fight with Islamic rebels against Christians. I also can’t see my son going to fight on the same side as al Qaeda.”

Under Sharia law, Paul noted, Christians would be persecuted for blasphemy, citing a woman in Pakistan who was jailed for blasphemy after she drank from a cup shared by Muslim workers.

“That is not something I want to send our boys and girls to die for,” Paul added.

Can he see sending his son to fight on the same side as Assad?

Who’s asking us to fight on Assad’s side? Obama wants us to get involved - on Al Quaida’s side. Rand Paul says no. Is Rand Paul asking us to fight for Assad? No. So why are you asking such an off the wall question?

Me either!!! Would you have fought the French on the side of the stinking Nazi’s?????? Nope. Obama is a Muslin. He is on the side of the murdering thug religion of murder (not peace). Their so called holy book, which is rather a book demanding murder if one does not agree with their stinking ideas, tells them to KILL!!! No other holy book, the Bible, the Book of Mormon, whatever, none of them say MURDER those who do not believe as you do. Obama supports the muzzie brother hood. They are murdering thugs who are al Qaeda types and Obama is one of them. America has gone stupid. During the 1940s, would we have voted in a Japanese or German president right after Pearl Harbor or Hitler declaring war on us??? Nope. Only stupids commit stupid deeds. America voted in a muzzie as president. We get what we voted for. He is what he is.

I don't think you are correct on that. Article I, Section IV, Clause 5 says that consent of both houses is needed to adjourn for more than three days. It should follow that consent of both would be needed to cut the adjournment short. Neither Boehner or Reid can do it on their own.

Does not follow. They can consent to adjourn because they can vote on that when they are in session. When they are not in session, they have no mechanism for voting and consenting on anything including calling themselves into session. The Speaker has that power for the House. For the Senate, I suspect it is technically the President pro tem (Leahy) or VPOTUS but the Majority Leader effectively calls the shots and asks them to do so.

Well if I had a son I’d feel exactly the same way. I do have 2 grandsons and the thought of them fighting on the side of Al Qaeda makes me physically ill.

Rand is a true leader: he took a stand on attacking US citizens in CONUS with drones and won

“Things weren’t always like this. In the years before World War II, American conservatives opposed global crusading. “

Yeah and we ended up with Pearl Harbor and having to go in anyway. Millions of lives would’ve been saved if we were just a bit more proactive instead of waiting for the world to end before finally doing something.

Is there a conflict that Rand Paul WOULD send his son to fight in? He risks NOTHING saying what he has said.

I Who are we bailing out in Syria? obama's ego? Who benefits? Some moloch worshipping banksters will a hardon for bloodshed and war profiteering. We're going to kill a bunch of Syrians because a bunch of Syrians are killing each other. We don't even know who is using the sarin. There will be more dead civilians when we bomb because our humint is never very good. If we blow up the chem weapons we just release it into the air. If we blow up a bunch of empty tents then frankly it's a huge waste of missiles that cost 1.5 million dollars each.

No. I don’t give a crap about the other Syrian islamists. I don’t support giving aid to the rebels.

But Syria’s regime must be destroyed because if they have no problem using chemical weapons against their own people, they certainly won’t have any problem using those chemical weapons against US. Such a regime cannot be tolerated.

We know Assad is working on WMD. Israel attacked their nuke facility in 2007 and I don’t think they did it to help islamist rebels!

Your feelings are immaterial. The fact remains that any involvement on our part aids and abets al queda. al queda must be destroyed because if they have no problem using chemical weapons against their own people, they certainly won't have any problem using those chemical weapons against the U.S. Such terrorists cannot be tolerated.

Assad didn't kill 3,000 Americans on 9-11. Assad didn't kill Ambassador Stevens last year in Benghazi. It was al qaeda. If assad and al qaeda want to kill each other, let them.

Nope. Don’t worry. Obama won’t do anything against Assad and Iran. Only Israel will be able to stop Assad and Iran now.

That's nice. Good luck. I hope they can stop al qaeda, too, but seeing as how we are arming the latter...

OK, sounds fine with me and most Americans.

We give millions of dollars in aid to Israel and the military tools and hardware to wipe out their neighbors.

Quit talking and just do it. Israel will have much more room to expand after they do so.....

We could always go in there later and help sweep of the disturbed sand.....

Assuming there will be anything left of America now that it has shown the world that it is weaker than France.
