LANG TOWNSHIP Police say two-time Olympic gold medalist and Maine resident Seth Wescott got an up-close introduction to a moose this week. Franklin County Sheriff's Department Lt. David Rackliffe says Wescott was driving on Route 16 in Lang Township near his home in rural western Maine just after 1 a.m. Thursday when a moose ran out of the woods and struck the left side of the Olympian's van.

Note - the moose struck the van, not the other way around. And yes, this absolutely does happen. It cost a friend of mine $3000 in damages to her (sob!) brand-new car. She doesn’t think they’re “cute” anymore...
Only Two Days Until
September.
Less than $3.5k to go!!

I can’t post a picture at present, but here’s one of a moose and squirrel license plate that went viral earlier this month.

Are there no laws in Maine requiring moose and other animals to have tail lights, triangle caution signs and working headlights if they are using the public thoroughfares? Perhaps someone could set up little stands where the fauna of Maine could rent these items before they go on to public highways.
