The secretary of state boiled with moral indignation, American pride and war bluster. The defense secretary huffed that America has moved assets in place and is ready to punish the strongman. And though the president says he has yet to decide whether to attack, leaked details of the coming military action were all over the newspapers: Within days, US Navy ships will launch a barrage of Tomahawks at selected targets.
Have George W. Bush and his band of cowboy neo-cons retaken the White House?
If only. This time the secretary of state is John Kerry, who launched a political career opposing the Vietnam War. The defense secretary? Chuck Hagel, who revived his career by quitting his party after the Iraq war.
Theyre part of a team that includes Vice President Joe Biden, who once vowed to impeach any president that goes to war without congressional approval. And, of course, President Obama, who became president in large part because, as a junior senator, he voted against the Iraq war. And who has been insisting that the tide of war is receding.
Whats up with all that?
So: Based on Israeli intelligence, America plans to hit a Mideast Baathist regime over weapons of mass destruction, ignoring the UN and even Congress. Have we missed any of the clichés that were (unfairly) thrown at Bush and the neo-cons before and after the Iraq war?

Neo-Con cowboys? They’re in the administration. Look over there.
Those aren’t cowboys, those are rodeo clowns.
Brokeback cowboys.
Have we missed any of the clichés that were (unfairly) thrown at Bush and the neo-cons before and after the Iraq war?
The only thing missing, which we WILL see shortly,
is the repression and arrest of anti-war protestors
as extremist elements. That of course didn’t happen
under Bush but which WILL happen once Obama assumes
war powers. This whole charade is being developed
to that end.
He snuck into office via an elaborate charade.
Anyone who voted for Hussein in 2008 deserves America’s pity.
Anyone who voted for Hussein in 2008 deserves America’s contempt.
Where’s the coalition?
Where’s the proof?
Where’s the U.N. Resolution?
Where’s the Congressional approval?
where’s the sense of the American people?
Cowboy!
No blood for oil.
And where's Colin PowellJohn F'ing Kerry making the case to the U.N.?!
Where are the Code Pinko kooks?
Where are the anti-war protesters we saw all through the Bush presidency?
Where is the anti-war zealots in the leftist media who ran non-stop anti-war stories with liberal reporters telling us awful war is?
Jane Fonda... next to make a cry for war?
Sadly, under Obama, the US surface Navy has fallen to a position of unreadiness. Most of its ships are barely seaworthy. Deck rifles are frozen in place by rust. VLS hatches and launch systems are broken and not being repaired. Power plants fail daily. Crew morale has hit rock-bottom as all former traditions and customs have been ended in order to promote “diversity” and “a kinder, gentler military.” The legendary CPO induction has been replaced by a mandatory viewing of a movie on being solicitous to women and minorities. JOs are fleeing the Navy as soon as their obligations are up. Ship COs are selected for being PC and will refuse to defend their own ships without permission. They are helpless before new AIP submarines owned by our enemies. We are ready to lose the next Navy war.
Steppin’ back and lettin’ Obama ride this bull. Since he’s so dang good at it. LOL.
Look for Vlad to stop Hussein's Navy. I wouldn't be surprised if The Lightworker gets us into a serious sea scrap with the Russians.
No Bombs for Al Qaeda!
IMHO George Bush was wrong in attacking Iraq after 9/11 when 15 of the terrorists who attacked the USA were Saudi Arabian.
We tossed away thousands of American lives and billions in wealth for that mistake and the world is worse off, not better off for it.
But right or wrong, Bush took some disgusting criticism and heat fom the left and the media for his Iraq incursion and the WMD debate.
There was no imminent threat to the US from Iraq at that time and there is no imminent threat to the US from Syria today. Attacking Syria will be just as big a mistake as was the Bush Iraq attack, and the Obama backing of militant muslim rebels in Libya and Egypt.
So isn’t it ironic that Barack Obama has been just as aggressive as Bush in getting involved in the internal politics of mideastern musim countries and there is nary a peep from the left or the media?
At least Bush was not aiding Al Queada, the Muslim Brotherhood and other anti-USA muslim hate groups as is Obama.
Obama and Terrorists or is it Obama and the Sunni Muslims? thread
