Like so many of 0’s bright ideas: the pResident proposes, Congress disposes. At least that’s the way it worked pre-0.
Grow a pair Congress!

The administration during the first term cut $487 billion from defense spending and another $55 billion under congressional sequestration legislation. An additional $55 billion is slated to be cut next year.

That information is only partially correct.

According to the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committe, Rep "Buck" McKeon (R-CA), the Obama Administration has cut defense by huge amounts 3 times:

1. $330 Billion in 2009 to help "pay for" Obama's "stimulus"

2. $487 Billion in 2011

3. $650 Billion (over ten years) from Sequestration, which was $37 Billion in FY13 and will be $55 Billion in FY14

To all the armchair warrior who were mocking Sequestration last January, February, and March as a "joke", congratulations. You have been complicit in the campaign to absolutely gut the US military.

In sequestration, president and Congress undermining military

The Republicans in Congress are no better. According to an article published in The Weekly Standard, there was a "secret deal" between the Obama White House and Congressional Republicans to make huge cuts to Defense back in 2010.

Since then, the Republicans have continued to abandon the military, and have allowed it to serve as an ATM machine for the welfare state. Entitlements (the real cause of our runaway deficit and debt) are exempt from Sequestration.

The Pentagon cannot even make payroll, and just concluded a furlough of its nurses, doctors, maintainers, and engineers that was so harmful and morale killing that thousands of medical professionals have just left the Dept of Defense.

Military civilian medical workers quit after furloughs

I am NOT for this war against Syria. Obama is simply out of control, and is aiding (once again) the Muslim Brotherhood.

But our military weakness is now on display for the entire world to see.

The military has repeatedly told Congress, the White House, and the American people that it is being cut beyond bone and muscle, and no one cares. The Entitlement checks keep on a rolling in, so what's the problem?

Pentagon's Dire Budget Warnings Fall on Deaf Ears

If anyone thinks that will not have repercussions, including political and economic, you need to have your head examined.

And if the Middle East blows apart, the Russians and the Chinese are ready to push the US deeper off the cliff.

Grow a pair Congress!

It sounds like Boehner doesn't want a vote -- fearing the President might lose it, I suppose.

He's making no move to recall the House -- meaning there can't be a vote until September 9.

So Obama is free to do what he wants to do...and the mess will be swept under the carpet before Congress returns.

Obama’s the Chump in Chief. He makes looking weak, petulant and petty easy.
