I cited "mores", you countered (correctly) with 'constitution" and then added; mores were different.

Welll .... yuhhhhhhh.

I still think my statement is more correct than not.

The democrat party is made up of different groups who are all trying to take something from the government. Conservatives on the other side are people who are sick of paying for the takers. The rats wouldn't have a party if the government stopped paying democrat supporters.

Repeat after me: The Republican Party was never the conservative party. The Republican Party was never the conservative party.

OK? So, the crack up the Republican Party is NOT the crack up of conservativism.

"Because of its demographic weakness, it is more beholden than ever to the intensity of its most extreme voters."

I'm amazed at how many ways the ruling class can come up with to say the same thimg: To win the GOP has to become more like the Democrats. This is always said by Democrats and their GOP lackeys.

What was the most recent electoral success of the GOP? Obviously, the 2010 midterms, where the most extreme forces of the GOP came out and swept the GOP into office from the US Senate to Weld County dogcatcher.

So, obvioiusly the opening assertion is wrong.

I agree with those who say we should return to our Christian roots. Yes, there were those in early America that did not claim Christianity as their belief - but of those that did not they were at least willing to go along with a system of government founded on its principles. If you do not base your beliefs on those enshrined in the Bible then you have NO solid foundation to stand on - and that is why we are where we are today. We are a nation that believes there are no moral absolutes. It’s really turning out great for us isn’t it. Democrats and Republicans are almost all lying manipulators out for all they can get. Most do not want Christianity because they like the self life and don’t want to be reminded of their sins. Many believe they are really good people - and by merely human standards - they are. But when we measure ourselves up against God’s Son we don’t compare too well. We are all sinners but God offers us a solution - His solution - to that problem. It’s free but it does have a price - living a holy life (only possible with the Holy Spirits help), deferring to God’s plan for your life vs Franky’s, “I did it my way…”, and being concerned about God’s honor more than the pain of life that you may experience (also called loving your neighbor as yourself and expressing gratitude to your Creator - Job comes to mind from the Old Testament). What to most seems like a straight jack and religious “slavery”, is actually freedom, peace that passes all understanding and real joy and contentment regardless of circumstances. America may fall, we may be attacked, or continue our gradual slide into a socialist dictatorship, etc., etc. but God’s Kingdom is unstoppable - read Psalm 2 for details ;- ) I love my country and grieve for her but unless there is national repentance from at least 1/4 to 1/3 of our nation I don’t see how the future can ever be bright again. I can’t understand how people can look at our country and not see that it is corruption (lying, cheating, immorality, bribes, extortion, favoritism and the list goes on) moral corruption that is killing us - then turn around and say that all we need is good fiscal policy or better families or better education (feel free to plug in your favorite solution). The fact is we are ALL very susceptible to sin - it comes very easy and natural to all of us. It’s why people in general, and politicians in particular, find it so easy to “compromise” and not have a back bone. It’s why people like Bill Clinton are so popular. He was, on the surface, a really likable guy - and beneath the surface he was like most other men - chasing after every woman he could find. It’s not that Christians think they are better (ok, there are SOME that feel that way but they are dead wrong) they just know how destructive sin is and want to warn others of its consequences - you know, short term pleasure - long term pain. It’s like the person that falls overboard with their 50 lb. bag of gold. They don’t want to let go but if they don’t, well, you know. For the believer in God, he or she knows that there is an all powerful Creator that has the future in his hands AND hears their prayers - no matter how evil, powerful and threatening the other side is (or “appears” to be) - the Old Testament is full of these stories and examples for us to learn from. Many considered giving their life a privilege to honor God (Steven at his stoning). That is the kind of person we need defending our constitution and our liberties and leading our nation - remember the painting of George Washington praying (?). However, REAL Christians seem to be in short supply in America today. Most are just people giving lip service but when the battle gets hot - they fold and slink away - too worried about what their family may say or the folks at the office or the media might say. That’s why Ted Cruz is such a threat to the left. He is FEARLESS because he has faith in an ALMIGHTY God. Yes, he’s a smart well educated guy - but that’s not where his strength comes from. If you can’t see these things for what they are you will not be part of any solution (if there is going to be one) but you will remain part of the problem and blind to your own weaknesses and cowardice. What verse in the Bible could be more appropriate than the one that states: “Righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to any people.”? Our most pressing problem is not Obamacare, Syria or a balanced budget. It is moral rot and decay. What turns nations around when they get to this level? What is there in our culture powerful enough to correct and purify these things from us and cause us to seek after morally honoring and loving behaviors? What makes people so want to do the right thing that they are willing to suffer for it? There is only one solution - repentance and forgiveness through the sacrifice of God’s son and his power to free us from the grip that sin has on our individual lives and the throat of our nation. Remember… Ninevah repented in one day and God spared the city. Will he not do it for our cities and our nation as well? He would but we want none of it so most likely we will go the way of other nations before us. It’s easy today to imagine an America where Christians and God fearing Jews are hated and are the “new” scapegoat class. Really, it’s already here. Anything that reminds people of God’s standards, his ownership and Lordship of the earth and all creation and our responsibility to him is demonized, ridiculed and legislated against. 2,000 yrs. ago the Bible warned that bad times were ahead for planet earth, where you will not be able to buy or sell unless you express allegiance to a one world government ruled by a system that will make Hitler’s Reich look like amateur hour. I don’t know when that time will be but it is not hard to believe that it could be soon. Now our own government is against anything and anyone that will stand in its way. The persecution will begin in earnest soon.

My Freeper reposte as now in Salon’s comments section:

Author Kim Messick lives and writes in North Carolina. He’s working on a novel.

Looks like he has a great start in this article….like the daVinci Code, weaving a very few facts and a great deal of bullshit to create a work of narcissistic fiction. More masturbation fodder for the progressive porn addicted and lost liberal leeches.

Now read the defining realpolitik quotes of an architect of the modern Democratic Party and liberalism.

Source: Frederick Douglas Institute. Google Frederick Douglas children…..a real man and freedom fighter. http://www.fdfny.org/blog/2011/09/18/these-uppity-negroes-lbj/

Lyndon B. Johnson (a real Texas neo-confederate) and his “Great Society” and a few of his coalition to help the black man and the poor were recorded on a White House tape opining:

“These Negroes, they‘re getting pretty uppity these days and that‘s a problem for us since they‘ve got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we‘ve got to do something about this, we‘ve got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference. I’ll have them ni$$ers voting Democratic for the next two hundred years.”

Little children, you have been co-opted through indoctrinational feeding that reinforces your own utter ill-informed ignorance. You are been made trained pavlovian trogs salivating on command for the very thing you “believe” you abhor. Lies, exploitation, and racism.

The neo-plantation class of white supremacists feeding, breeding, and harvesting votes from blacks and dependent whites. They are supported by a small group of well fed and groomed house servants who get to watch the cotillions, but never get to really sit at the big table with the ruling class liberal whites.

What color uniform did Johnson, Carter, Clinton, Gore’s and many other uber-libs great grand daddies wear? Confederate gray children. Confederate gray.…… This country, the black race, and you enabling white illiterates have been had once again by “da man”.

“Da man” after 50 years of liberalism has produced a black and poor white dependency of unwed, pregnant women, fatherless households, broken educational systems churning out feral young violent males, and millions of useless breeders to be herded about and milked or culled as needed by the liberal progressive government machine.

Solution…..reframe your little monkey brains to think economic and not racial or ethnic classes. In other words, actually think and act like YOU are not racist. Duh.

Most will continue to believe exactly what they have been told and conditioned to believe. They will continue to be fools, or like the author, even mislead as many other fools as they can.

Go ahead, you prattling little Neo wannabe’s. Act like a searching intellectual, but then keep taking the blue pill you are government issued and fall back to sleep.

Or begin questioning everything you have been told and take the first real ride of discovery in your pathetic little pseudo-intellectual lives.

Blue pill. Blue State. Red pill. Red state. The irony is just too much!

What or who am I?

Like Darwin famously said.... “I THINK!” Do you?

They don’t even need to build a Trojan Horse to infiltrate the party, that has been a successful effort by Ron Paul-bots, and moderates who are getting into leadership positions, while the base simmers...

The Republican Party has more hands in it than a 2 year olds birthday cake!!!

And the party leadership, or lack (of vision) thereof, is stomping on the accelerator...

“Next Stop...Political Oblivion...”

Unless...

(See who bites, hehehe)

Re: “There are many potential Jewish and Hindu conservatives.”

Re: “Somehow those “many potential” seem to vote at least 70% democrat.”

The reality is much worse than that.

Secular American Jews voted 85% for Obama in 2008.

Indian Hindus are the most Hard Left immigrant group in America.

Although they are the most educated ethnic group in America, Indians voted 90% for Obama in 2008.

Pew Research published those numbers in a research paper released a few months before the 2012 election.

What drugs is this writer on??

The GOPe hates the TEA Party, but its the leftist Democrat Party that has moved to being extremist and strident.

The GOPe is mushy and compromising at every turn.

But the Republican electorate is now almost as purified as the Republican Party. Not only is it unlikely to support Democratic candidates, it’s virtually certain to punish any Republican politician who works with Democrats.

That's a valid point. Remember what Republican primary voters did to Republican Joe Lieberman when he...

Wait. What?
