A black Virginia Baptist minister who claimed he was the victim of a hate crime has pleaded guilty to setting his home and car on fire. Olander D. Cuthrell, 41, admitted that he poured oil and gasoline on the porch of his house back in March and set it ablaze. Cuthrells oldest son discovered the fire and extinguished the flames with water before it spread to the house.
Cuthrell, a minister of music at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, pleaded guilty to a felony arson charge for setting fire to the house and to a misdemeanor arson charge for lighting the vehicle on fire.
In order to lend credibility about the fires being the result of a hate crime, Cuthrell painted the n-word on two sides of his house. Despite his efforts, police said Cuthrell became the focus of their investigation within 10 days. He was arrested in early April, according to the Times Dispatch.
After his arrest, investigators discovered that Cuthrell was three months behind on his rent and had recently given his landlord a check that bounced.
Cuthrell has remained jailed without bail since his arrest. The felony arson charge carries a minimum punishment of five years in prison and a maximum term of life. He is scheduled to be sentenced in October.
It is unclear what motivated Cuthrell to set the fires because he did not own the house and never filed any insurance claims.

Oh I don't know, let's guess.
How about a perjury charge for filing a false report? Ginning up this type of stuff, of course, is just another business practice for the racial grievance industry and, like union violence, is never prosecuted for the right reasons.
Whitey’s fault.
What kind of hate could possibly be inside a PASTOR - to ruin his life trying to perpetrate this thing???
Surely it isn’t the ‘racism’ of slavery in America that ended over 150 years ago...
Maybe the fire-hosing of marching blacks in the early 1960’s?? No, I would guess this guy is way too young to have been a part of that...
But if someone refuses to rent a house to him after this, that’s racist!
There’s absolutely nothing these people - and the homosexuals, too - won’t do to themselves in order to avoid dealing with the fact that nobody gives a flying freep about them, not even enough to “victimize” them.
But it’s not a “hate crime” when you do your best to stir up hatred and violence?
I suppose it was ALL MY FAULT.
I’m just a white male, sitting in my living room, living my life... making poor blacks miserable to the point of pulling stunts like this to incite race riots...
why didn’t they charge him with inciting hatred/faking a hate crime?!?
there needs to be charges like that.and with serious jail time with it.
There have also been cases of lesbians who put anti-homosexual graffiti on their house, to try to show that a hate crime was committed against them.
There was another lesbian who scrawled anti-homosexual statements on her own body, and claimed to have been physically attacked.
And numerous cases of nooses found, which allegedly were placed by anti-black zealots, were found to have been planted by blacks themselves.
Bottom line is that so many of these allegedly hateful bigoted incidents were staged, not real.
It’s enough to make you disregard any of these stories. We should just assume that these are staged events, rather than real hate crimes.
The irony is that our allegedly hateful bigoted society is not seeing bigots perpetrating these incidents. The liberals have to stage these events to make it seem that our country is so hateful and bigoted against officially recognized grievance groups such as blacks and homosexuals.
A professor who claimed she was targeted in a hate crime that stirred student protests at the Claremont Colleges is suspected of staging the vandalism herself, police said Wednesday.
Two witnesses interviewed by police investigators allegedly saw Kerri Dunn, a visiting professor of psychology at Claremont McKenna College, commit the vandalism, police said in a statement.
It is obvious that they are mentally imbalanced which leads to the bigger question of what motivates the people who march and hold candles and rally around them. In many of these incidents the supporters remain loyal to the hoaxers, even after they have been proven to be liars and convicted of various crimes like falsifying police reports and damaging property.
He’s 41.
Thanks. Yep, not old enough. Child of the 90’s, not 40’s, 50’s...
Hopefully, he won’t have to worry about renting anything for at least 25 yrs.
He really should not be prosecuted because everyone knows there are millions of white people just chomping at the bit to burn a black persons house down!!! He was merely demonstrating this fact!!!!
Don’t forget Tawana!!!!
His parents should be charged with a hate crime. :)
These hate crime hoaxes should be prosecuted as hate crimes against whites and/or straights, since whites and straights are the people intended to look bad if the hoaxes succeeded.
There seems to be a rash of stories lately about these self-committed hate crimes. Oddest thing.
