A Slower Pace
September 1, 2013
When writer Bruce Feiler was diagnosed with bone cancer in his thigh, he couldnt walk without some help for over a year. Learning to get around on crutches caused him to appreciate a slower pace of life. Feiler said, The idea of slowing down became the number one lesson I learned from my experience.
After Gods people were liberated from Egypt, He gave them a commandment that would cause them to slow down and view Him and the world in pause. The fourth commandment introduced a dramatic contrast to the Israelites slavery under Pharaoh when they had no break in their daily work routine.
The commandment insisted that Gods people set aside one day a week to remember several important things: Gods work in creation (Gen. 2:2), their liberation from Egyptian bondage (Deut. 5:12-15), their relationship with God (6:4-6), and their need for personal refreshment (Exod. 31:12-18). This was not to be a day of laziness, but one where Gods people acknowledged, worshiped, and rested in Him.
We too are called to slow down, to be refreshed physically, mentally, and emotionally, and to behold God in His good creation.
Lord, I need spiritual and physical rest. Help me
to deliberately take the time to spend with You.
Please remove any obstacle that keeps me from
having a more balanced rhythm to my life.
Living for God begins with resting in Him.
Read: Exodus 20:8-11

To: All
To: All
Dear God:
I ask that no Airman, Coast Guardsman,
Marine, Sailor, Soldier, Reservist, or National Guardsman
Feel alone or forgotten.
O Israel, hope in the Lord;
For with the Lord there is loving kindness,
And with Him is abundant redemption.
And He will redeem Israel
From all his iniquities.
Psalm 130:7 & 8

One of the most celebrated persons that gave most of his life to this country was George Washington. Many people claimed to have know and been around him. It is good to have known someone that had a trait of a great leader that you can point out and make others feel good.

Good evening, mountainlion, and a Blessed Lord’s Day to you and yours.
You are so right about George Washington....he gave so much of his life to our country. He would be appalled at today’s goings-on.

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.
May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.
May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.
G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.

Absolutely no progress today. As soon as I got out of bed the back went out - I've been sedentary the entire day.
Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
