U.S. Military Action Against Syria ‘Going to Happen’ Even If Congress Votes Against It...
The Blaze ^ | 31 August, 2013 | Dave Urbanski

President Obama will carry out military action against Syria even if Congress votes against it, a senior State Department official tells Fox News’ Chief Washington Correspondent James Rosen.

Rosen’s notes concerning the White House’s reported intentions regarding the Syrian crisis were posted on Fox News colleague Greta Van Susteren’s Gretawire site late Saturday afternoon.

Rosen reports that “the president’s decision to seek a congressional debate and vote was a surprise to most if not all of” his national security team members. The state department official who communicated with Rosen added that Obama’s move to seek congressional approval “did not supplant the president’s earlier decision to use force in Syria, only delayed its implementation.”

“That’s going to happen, anyway,” the source told Rosen, which is why Obama’s Rose Garden remarks Saturday included his belief that he possesses the authority to launch strikes even without congressional authorization, Rosen adds.

The White House Saturday sent Congress a draft of a resolution authorizing Obama to use military force against Syria and laying out the administration’s claim that Assad’s regime killed more than 1,000 last week in a chemical weapons attack.

The resolution also says the objective of a U.S. military response would be to “deter, disrupt, prevent and degrade” the regime’s ability to use chemical weapons going forward.

The resolution authorizes Obama to use the military as he determines “necessary and appropriate” to serve that goal. The draft doesn’t lay out a timeline for action but does say only a political settlement can resolve the Syrian crisis.

Watch this video...

Just doesn't make sense that Assad would use gas when he's beaten back the Rebels. They on the other hand, have plenty of incentive.

I wonder if, now that obama has said he is gonna attack, Assad will launch a preemptive strike.

He’s done so many things already that warrant impeachment but it hasn’t happened. I can’t believe it ever will.

If for no other reason, there are too many powerful people in the shadows telling him what to do. Another reason is those powers, through the NSA, has way too much dirt on way too many politicians and judges.

I wouldn't think so. At least not against another country. He'll have his hands full keeping the Rebels at bay, and time is own his side as pressure builds against the US attacking.

The unknown is Israel's need to stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons. That's also a common goal for Saudi Arabia and the US; hence Obama make take action even without Congress agreeing.

I look for another "incident" to occur in the near future which gives Obama even more reason to attack Syria.

I'd be more concerned about Putin and what his Russian submarines will do, in support of Syria, and Vladimir Putin's desire for the recently found oil fields in and around Syria.
Putin's not about to let that oil field and his only semi warm water port in Sevastopol, fall into the hands of the Muslim Brotherhood.

To say the least, Russia has real national security interest in that area, and that news oil field goes well south of Turkey and into Syria.

Then there's Putin’s Pipeline To Syria:
So wake up, and, ... ... see WORLD WAR III coming!

Assad did NOT use it.
The Syrian Rebels were the ones who launched the chemical attack with the chemicals supplied by Saudi Prince Bandar.
Watch that video AGAIN.

Between the subs you mentioned and putting Russian pilots in Syrian migs armed with anti ship missles, could send a few thousand of our navy into the drink. Hope he doesnt do it, but if I was him, I would. Either that, or put the russian military advisers at all his airfields and get Putin to get obama to flinch again.

“I don’t think Boner has the bb’s. It may pass the Senate, but doubtful it will pass the House regardless of what Boner has told 0bama”

There’s not much Boehner can do about this.

If all the democrats vote for the war, Obama only needs 17 neocon republicans to flip and he’ll get his war.

Not plausible unless Obama’s real strategy is to effectively disband Congress by showing even to low information voters that it is no longer needed to govern. It is more likely that the GOP will vote for war and Obama will get his bipartisan support and shared blame for the attack.

This appears to be a stalling tactic to give Assad more time to disperse his military assets, making it more unlikely that any puny attack by Obama will have an affect.

Why even waste dwindling defense funds on this worthless attempt to salvage Obama’s lousy global reputation?

This whole thing is such a fiasco and an international embarrassment.

The chickens are coming home to roost. Total incompetence all the way around. No surprises, no big deal. Putin, Assad, Nasrallah (Hizbollah) all playing Obama for a fool, which he has proven to be. Even the stammerer, Roman emperor Claudius ONLY played the fool. This President, for all his cool demeanor and pop-star qualities, is proving to be what we already knew in 2008 - a stuffed shirt.

Bottom line: what will the US do when Iran is about to go nuclear? More red lines? More threats? More consultations and debates? Or are we just going to let Uran become a ten-fold N. Korea? The what?
This whole Syrian thing is really about Iran and so far, it looks like they are going to get their bomb unless the world FORCES tiny Israel, with its back to the wall, to try to take down Iran...alone. Very sad folks.

Don’t doubt it, Obozo is already bought by the Saudi’s. He can only do what his masters tell him.

Is action without Congress unconstitutional? Yes. Except if we are attacked or threatened. Neither of which fits this.

What will Congress do? That is a good question. If congress finds grounds and brings impeachment against Obozo (or whatever his real name is) the Senate will not remove him. He knows that.

Checkmate.
