No link.

Had a direc conversation with a Sargent Major (believe that is his rank) who is stationed in Georgia at a small base who is married to my niece over drinks one night.

He was over some wharehousing and was headed to Florida for some special training on proper storage of chemical suits for UN personal that are being stored at his facility. I started to quiz him on it and knowing he let the cat out of the bag he started clamming up and tried to change the subject.

All I got.

“Our military will fight all right, as ordered”

On this one,they should not....

My father was a former DI and I think if he was alive (thank god he is not to see what is happening) he would say to hell with the Muslim in Chief and his rifle would be turned inward.

He was a blood and guts American but to obey this order would go against all that is good as you opine in your post.

How are the boots going to believe a lieing sack of goat droppings that we have as pResident?

I respect your opinion but these are trying times, we are in a different world now. Heck, I daresay we have become the Evil Empire, something that I predicted in 1983 (wish I was wrong, it was just a question, then, tossed out for discussion) when there would be a day where Russia and the US switch roles. Just following orders that go against the Constitution and the rights of people are illegal and immoral and I stick up for these troops voicing their opinion. Heck, if my (step) nephew is ever drafted, my father (he remarried, my nephew is the son of my step sister) and we would help him go to Canada, Sweden wherever. I know another young man who wanted to join, but his father, a Vietnam Vet, "talked" him put of it saying, "if you do, I'll beat you to a pulp and disown you."

We are a sick country. We have a cancer in our nation. It is known as Obama, the bad economy, overbearing government and running around the world kicking hornet's nests. It did not start with him, it started a long time ago but now we are pouring gasoline on the fire. We are the Evil Empire. Pogo Possum said it all, "we've met the enemy, he is us." Like a cancer patient, we will have to get sicker and endure a lot to get better. Perhaps people like this servicemen and Snowden is the chemo we need.

Solzhenitsyn saw it coming as well.

To stay in and challenge the lawfulness of the orders is the only way a military officer really CAN keep their oath, it seems.

Not that there’s any chance of it being EFFECTIVE, because the folks like Denise Lind WILL follow the orders they are given, even when it means they have to rule that lawful combat orders can be given without approval by the only person authorized to do so by the Constitution, War Powers Act, and Authorization to Use Force.

At this point I can understand an officer staying in - IF they plan to actually try to keep their oath. And I can understand a non-officer getting out - IF they realize it would be treason against the country to actually keep their oath.

What I CAN’T understand is how any voter with a soul could put these guys in this position.

They could only identify that it is his uniform. Without a face they can’t prove that it is him in that uniform.

Military officers take an oath to the obey Constitution, not the President.

Enlisted members, however, do swear to follow the orders of the President.

I’m with you, butterdezillion. I’m sure the vast majority of our military men and women share this individual’s opinion. To identify and charge him would further erode morale. Of course, that is probably their goal.

Strange. I thought the Constitution specifically gave congress, not the president, the sole responsibility for declaring war.

On that subject, why has McCain said he would vote against it? Isn't he in the Senate?

I agree with you.

I don’t envy the men and women of our armed forces their choices nowadays.

By the ear. The features of the pinna are as distinct as a finger print.

Funny thing is, I don’t disagree with anything that many of you have said in reply to my post. I know you’re all patriots and you speak with a burning desire for Americas’ survival. For that alone, I respect you all as brothers. Nonetheless, we’re going to need this military, long after Obama is gone. And as I see it, for a sailor, a soldier or marine who posts such a public defiance of our policy is going too far. We need to stick together. Obama is a blip on the radar.

Could we kick Syria’s ass? Yes. Could we kick Syria’s ass with Russsia backing them? We did it in Afghanistan. Could we kick Russia’s ass? Not without seriously diminishing returns when it comes to our so called “rebels” (see Alqueda). If we want to bomb the shit out of both sides, I’m for it. I think we will need to do just that, at some future time. These are complex decisions. No matter what I think, though, it isn’t up to a Chief to make that determination, at least not on social media.

They couldn’t prove that he took the photo. They couldn’t prove that he uploaded it personally.

Obama is on video claiming that the BC posted on the White House website is his BC. It’s a forgery, and he had to have known it because he has no legally valid BC from Hawaii.

If the standard of Trayvon Martin is used, even if they could prove it was uploaded on his account that’s not good enough because his account could have been hacked. If the standard of Obama is applied even if he is on video saying he approves what was posted in his name, it’s not good enough. When you combine all those standards, they would have to prove that he knew that what he was doing was a crime, prove that he clicked the photo personally, and prove that he personally uploaded it for public viewing.

I’m surprised Obama hasn’t ordered our officers to wipe his butt yet. It’s about the only desecration he hasn’t done (that we know of...)

How can they swear to follow the orders of the President when Judge Denise Lind ruled that the President doesn’t issue any orders?
